Has anyone Made Offerup Stealth Accounts?

I tried a few months back but the nationwide shipping option was not available to me so the account was only able to sell locally which was useless to me. I'm curious to know whether anyone else has had success with this.

Small companies like that wouldn't have had the time or money to invest in excess tracking technologies like eBay and Amazon. Overcoming them should be easy.

The stealth guide should more than suffice. ;)

Offerup is a relatively small company yes, but it is a lot bigger than most people think. It is a private company but currently valued at over 1.3 billion.

I tried to make an account with an android emulator and spoofed location but they disable the national shipping feature so I can only sell locally. They do have a verification system where you send in your ID, but I don't think thats required to ship, not sure what the issue is.

OfferUp is huge. It's one of the more popular local trading apps besides craigslist.

Now I see. I see it mentioned here from time to time but I'd never been there until now. Looks like only about 10% of listings offer shipping.

Be that as it may, their wikipedia page is full of crap.

Since then (2015), the company has become the largest marketplace for buyers and sellers.
(Yet they're valued at .001% of Amazon's currently valuation)

So I was able to make a new account with shipping enabled but they "ghosted" it. IE I sent messages to other accounts but no messages were received by them and any items that I posted were not visible to anyone. They get a lot of spammers so it makes sense that they would have some controls in place. This may be more difficult than expected.

Maybe your account has to be manually reviewed before your stuff becomes visible to others?

Just a guess. Good luck either way.

"Move fast and break things. Unless you are breaking stuff, you are not moving fast enough." - Mark Zuckerberg

This community is made up of people who want to push the limits and try new things that others are afraid to. We live without fear because we know we can have a second chance at it if our first attempt goes wrong. Most of us don't try to do things that get us banned. If you know of Plato's allegory of the cave some marketplaces treat us similarly to the enlightened prisoner.

I'm also working on my bricklink.com stealth accounts...

I TRY not to break things and get suspended from places.. I TRY not to. I try to be good but it seems more money = more trouble. Everywhere I go more money = more trouble once you pass a threshold. Thus you have to spread out your sales over multiple accounts to prevent most issues. It's just the world we live in.

I didn't mean the actual company valuation. I meant it more in comparison to the big competitors like eBay and Amazon who clearly devote time and money into tracking technologies.
