does anyone know how to sell on taobao
 

i think some of my stuff would do better on there but i dont know how to sell on there. I know it says you can sell if only youre a Chinese resident or something like that but im sure theres a way around it does anyone know? also another thing would be the language barrier. so it may be hopeless for me to even try i just wanted to know did someone have experience selling on taobao without knowing the language and living in the us?

This would be extremely hard especially if you do not speak Chinese. Even if you are looking to sell directly into markets in the west you still need to overcome getting setup etc.

It may work but seems more hassle than its worth. Also, I dont know what you sell but I would assume there are Chinese selling cheaper than you can buy for.

Well then it would seem the only barrier is the Language Barrier.

It's extremely difficult to sell on taobao if you don't know the language.

+1 on being a nightmare. Chinese all want to have a chit chat about stuff before buying. On ebay u might get 1/50 people asking questions, more like 1/2 over there. Thats why all the sellers there have skype

Even though I know Chinese, I do think it's too much chit chat from the buyers. Most of the sellers hire customer services only for that. You still can ask the sellers questions at midnight.

About the language, get a macbook. it automatically translates most languages into english, enough for you to get around.

I occasionally shop on French/Japanese website and my laptop translates for me, more than enough to get around

Need a third platform in USA after Amazon and eBay.


Maybe google ,yahoo or Facebook can do it

I did try before to setup an account , but they ask me to verify my id , and i did try to use my passport to get verified but they not accept it , i think they need Chinese id, I did try to make more search after that and i think there are some website can help you to setup an account and use someone in China ID and help you to set ltd

Even if you sign up successfully and come over the language barrier, the marketing fee is huge to survive in TaoBao and you will need to burn out a lot of money for growing the account rating.

If you have your own product or brand, i suggest you could contact the reseller in China to sell and market for you(much cheaper than operating your own account) so that you dont need to be bothered by all those account, language and marketing problem

i am a chinese ,we use QQ and Weichat. acctually they are simillar because made by a same company

you need to be chinese and have a chinese id and bank card i think.
