My first Google Checkout Dispute

I have received my first Dispute for Google Checkout Order message and have 5 days to respond to prove the item was delivered. I have tracking but it was only 10 days ago the order was placed and this is shipping to Saudi Arabia which is notoriously slow and hasn't been delivered yet. He shouldn't have been able to open a dispute after that amount of time. Will GC see this and will they have any interest in having the item returned? What's the best way to defend this?

They're also saying that if I can't support the order then they'll take the amount from my account and limit the account - but there's no credit card on file or anything and the funds are already cleaned out of the GC account into my bank account. It would surely be unwise for them just to refund any frivelous claim at the drop of a hat and bear the cost themselves.

I would give them the tracking number since you have one...

IF you loose the dispute, your account will go negative for 2-3 days and then they WILL take the money from your bank account.

Take the money from the bank account? How?

lakeman 08-14-2010 10:37 AM

When your Google checkout account has a positive balance, they deposit the money into your bank automatically. When it has a negative balance, they withdraw it from your bank automatically also.

MadSam 08-14-2010 10:40 AM

They can't withdraw it from your bank without a direct debit, no?

MadSam 08-14-2010 07:17 PM

Once the funds hit the bank account that's it safe. How do you expect them to take it out of your account without your permission?

lakeman 08-14-2010 07:19 PM

It's your first dispute with them and you're trying to tell me how it works, when I have experience with them? :pound:

Good luck!

MadSam 08-14-2010 07:20 PM

I'm not trying to tell you how it works, how are they going to reclaim the transfer that's already been deposited into your bank account?

lakeman 08-14-2010 07:23 PM

The same way paypal does it.. They can and WILL do it.

GreenBean 08-14-2010 07:23 PM

pffttt.:faint: Google Checkout work differently because it's US based. That mythical/magical direct debit used in the UK does not matter to them...:pop2:

Defend it to the best of your ability. Supply the tracking number, bribe the buyer, kill his camels..that sort of stuff:pop2:

MadSam 08-14-2010 07:24 PM

Hold on, so will they be able to take it out of my UK account and how?

Stigger 08-19-2010 06:47 PM

when you sign up to pp or gc your sign a dd agreement

that is how they get it back, but if you have a feeling the acount is going south then just call go or log in to your bank and cancel the dd

if you decide to fight the dispute and win just re create the DD agreement with the same bank account your used first time round, if it goes tits up at least you know there not getting your money .

MadSam 08-19-2010 09:12 PM

That was the first thing I checked - GC never set up any DD on the account...
