Invoicing Tips ((Avoiding Paypal))

I just wanted to share my invoicing tips I have been using with success to get people to pay via merchant account.

The main thing is an incentive or stipulation that keeps them waiting for your invoice as you have to adjust it. What I focus on is some kind of discount if a certain dollar amount is bid up to (one I know it will reach). I offer free shipping if bid goes up to x amount of dollars. Shipping discounts. Free shipping with BIN (have to disable immediate payment requirement). It depends on the item. Include multiple item discounts in your description but don't specify. I sometimes offer “holiday” discounts for a limited time and mention I will adjust the invoice and send it to them. I say I ship overseas in the description but don't fill out that part in the listing process.

Acquire the buyers email and send them your invoice from Ccnow, Old Paypal, Google Checkout, or whatever you use.

Good practices. Those are the incentives I look at when buying especially after
using this forum.
Geeze, you are the sort of seller that I would buy from!

Great tips, I do offer a discount to use my merchant account, but you really take it beyond, and make it convincing.

GreenBean 03-03-2008 10:19 PM

Ros, it is like ebayhateluv and the lizard king 'say', if you make the 'buying' a good experience, you get the benefit. for the life of me I can not think of the
marketing terms here. LOL.

I cater to the buyer definately. Some items are niche items and my knowledge of them makes the buyer comfortable.

Another tip: How to get the buyers email w/o asking for it?
This could be old news but...I do the Paypal invoice but instead of sending the invoice I "preview" the invoice and it lists the buyers email address. DON'T SEND the invoice just close the browser then goto your merch account and send the invoice.

Another Place I always find the buyers info:
IN the Selling Manager , of the Ebay Store, they LIST the Buyers email for you..

Believe me, after they review that link, they get the message. I no longer have to explain to them why I do not accept PayPal.

I got about 12 links including that and I showed one guy and it didn't break his paypal worship.

that's the problem with auctiva. it is not real time, so my invoices don't get sent out instantly.

Modee, all my buyers, INSIST that if they dont use paypal that they wont be protected. How can I convince them otherwise? Especially since I'm using a new account with 1 feedback. I'm going to try and show them the link, thanks thats a good idea.

thelizardking 03-06-2008 05:16 PM

If you use Ccnow you can accept Paypal. Ive just started using it and it does take some convincing sometimes but not as hard as it is to convince them to us google checkout.

Explain how if they use a bank account with paypal and the seller empties their paypal account, then they can't get refunded. There's also this:
