HI im just wondering if i open a llc with a name (ie. shawn johns ) can i open a merchant account ?

Sure why not - as long as you have a good grasp of stealth. Eb will always require an active pp account but you could bypass the payment system with merchant account - you will prob need to submit ID documentation.
