Tbh I think you are probably going to be fine with a one off link. There are only so many IP addresses and they do get rotated so that by itself is unlikely be enough to cause a strong enough link...

What sort of bank account was it that you were adding when the direct debit was refused? If it was a savings account, you can bypass the direct debit section and just add that savings account again...
