It's nowhere near as bad as you're making it out to be, Pandora. For starters I don't use resource intensive OS's on my VM's since I'm using a decade old laptop.

Just curious, why do you prefer VM over user accounts?
It would seem to me that User accounts are faster, (depending on your tools, setup and configuration) more comfortable...

I got a similar error trying to run OS X on VMware, except for me my host doesn't support vt-x.

Looks like you just need to enable vt-x.
