One UK bank can be added to more than 6 paypals with some out of the box thinking.

I aint gonna run out of banks anytime...

It works...

I would guess that you confirmed the bank on the PayPal and that's what "locked" it to the original account; it definitely works if you don't confirm the bank.

I have also tried adding a bank already used over the years and paypal blocks you from doing it.

Possible but I wouldn't recommend it. Just because you have removed the account information doesn't mean they have deleted the record of the account you used.

Wouldn't you be better to pass the EU...

So long as your bank is fine for withdrawals in a mismatching name from PayPal you can assume its fine for any other mismatching...
