Reverse search engine

Does anyone know of a reverse search engine to see what products are selling both online and at ebay. I have a partner that has some capital and wants to start selling online but not necessarily ebay (but could be)
Seems to me there is a way to see what the most popular items searched for on ebay are...anyone know how to do that? Also similar searches online in general?

I think adwords shows you some details.. Can't remember exactly.. Not even sure if thats what your talking about..

terapeak is awesome. Sometimes they have free tiarl membership for 15 days or so. You can literally put the name of the seller and see his sell thru rate, how many listings he puts a month, and how much he makes a month. Its a great tool to research your competition. I was amazed at dudes who hacked the ebay pulse system and literally made $10k per month or more on just e-books.

Also Terrapeak is integrated into eBay a lot now and only takes paypal. I'm pretty sure any info or card you give them, they will track you with.

eBay Pulse: trends, hot picks, cool stuff and popular searches on eBay.com

3 guys were famous for somehow getting on the ebay pulse for 2 years. Alot of sellers were pissed at them because they used a program which made thousands of accounts to watch their items, therefore making the pulse. All of them are now killed by ebay. We might I add they deserved.

There are lots of ways to see what is being bought and what is being searched for.

On Amazon check their top sellers lists. Amazon also has lists of items for which people wanted to buy, but the item is not on the site.

Ebay - terapeak and Pulse

For search words there a ton of sites

Google Trends and Zeitgeist

Google Trends

Google Zeitgeist 2007

yahoo buzz shows hourly topsearches

Top 500 keywords. Most searched words on internet
