I've checked about 20 items from alibaba to ebay, items that i think wouldn't be too popular/saturated and they're all being sold by chinese sellers for close to same price they're being sold on...

Yes that is exactly the issue i am seeing. The same people selling on alibaba and similar sites are also selling on ebay and you can't beat their prices.
