Yellow chinese packaging?

If you have ever ordered anything from China/Hong Kong, you should be very familiar with the standard Chinese yellow/gold packaging material they wrap their parcels with.

Below you can find a picture:

My question is: Does anyone know how these are packaged? I do not think they are by hand. The dimensions of the box are always perfect and the yellow tape/wrapping around it is too neat to be natural. I heard someone mention the term "heat shrink wrap" when it comes to these but I haven't been able to find any further information on this.

Any ideas?

A very familiar site. To be honest I always assumed it was by hand.

Its more than possible that they put it on a rotating place and have it done automatically, or indeed shrink wrap it. What information is it you are after? That exact method, the machine used or something else?

There is no particular reason other than genuine curiosity but yeah I would like to know more about the machine they use to do it. I am pretty much god awful at packaging and hopefully I can learn something from the techniques they use

Ha, fair enough. Christmas when it comes around is a nightmare for me, I try to get as many things pre-wrapped as possible. I will send an email to my supplier and enquire on your behalf.

I'm pretty sure it is just tape done by hand. I have unraveled the stuff like tape before. If it was shrink wrap, it would be even neater and there would be a seam. The neatness is probably due to experience. If you send a lot of packages, you get pretty good at taping them.

It's just cheap tape that they went over at least twice because the boxes are literally thinner than paper.

I have a feeling it is done by hand - seen few boxes that were makeshift...just scraps of other boxes thrown together

It is done by hand, and the box's are cut to size while being packed.

Definitely done by hand. I think they tape the crap out of the packages to try to deter customs from cutting them open.

Plus there is usually more tape then cardboard in the packaging, probably to try to keep the weight down for shipments.

Then I guess it's time to start spending real money. People will respond to those who pay them. Especially such a simple question. Shipping is business anyways...

I know a guy who imports baskets to sell to Florist shops and he gets huge boxes of baskets with this crappy thin cardboard and it is taped beyond belief to hold it together.

Has to be done by hand because there is no box the same even the same size boxes etc.

FYI He got sick one time and the doc asked him if he had traveled overseas lately?

He said no, I do import items though. He was sick for days and had hives larger them dimes. It was the spray they are required to put on the baskets before shipment.

Its tape and the amount of tape they use its like they make a box out of it. Holds whatever crappy material they use extremely well...

It is imperative that you use gloves when opening up these overseas packages and then wash your hands still - chemicals, germs, viruses...all can live through a long shipping process

Which is why I avoid ever buying imported 'fresh' food like garlic or fish from certain countries.

Some of my packages have some kind of carpet on the bottom to support the weight. Then major taping alround.

It is packed by hand,it is very normal here.Because people need to packing lots of parcel everyday,so they can packing the parcel at fast speed and good looking.Not is by machine.
