Re: FWI, if you call eBay "anonymously" they'll still know your phone number
Here are the facts:
When you call a toll-free number in the USA/Canada, your phone # is ALWAYS shown to the called party. You cannot block it using *67.
Toll-free numbers use ANI (Automatic Number Identification) which is completely different than CID (CallerID) service.
If you don't want eBay to know your real number, call their non-toll free number instead and use *67 before the number.
Both ANI and CID can also be spoofed and made to show any number, but this is an advanced topic.
FWIW: Usually eBay/PayPal dosn't care about the phone# of the incoming caller so as long as it either matches what they have on file, or you used a one-time passcode (OTP) when calling. They just use this to validate you are the account holder.
