Default Adding tracking # on ebay/paypal on low cost items you sell?

How do you add tracking numbers on ebay/paypal after you sell an item which costs like less than £10 but which would cost you £5 or more to send recorded delivery.

I sold an item for £10 and it cost me £4.80 to send recorded delivery, so it works out very expensive to send that way only advantage is the tracking in case someone says they never got the item

It would be cheaper to send royal mail economy post or 2nd class post which would cost you less but the problem is there is no tracking, so what is the best option to add tracking numbers or not on items you are selling for less than £10

Would not adding tracking numbers on low costs items you sell red flag your ebay/paypal account?

Open a account with Royal Mail and use there RM 24 and RM48 services this will provide you confirmation of delivery which you can upload on eBay but you need a Royal Mail OBA account which must be linked to Click & Drop.

Just get a proof of postage as its free, its not worth spending half your sale price on recorded delivery.

Not sure why you would think it would cause red flags on your account?

How does proof of postage work if the buyer says they not received item?
Its on the seller to prove the item arrived and proof of postage does not offer that, any buyer could receive the item and say they not received it, so where does that leave the seller - out of pocket and out of the item they sold

Ebay/Paypal as you for tracking numbers on your items so if your selling low cost items and not sending them with tracking your ebay/paypal account is going to show 'tracking required' against payments received

always bought postage at post office, does buying 2nd class postage through ebay put some kind of tracking to say item been sent?

Thats your choice to buy tracking or not but if someone wants to say they didnt get the item and its a cheap item then thats the risk i take as i see no point in paying nearly half for postage that the item sold for.

If you are having 21 day holds on your items and you want to add tracking to speed the payments release up then i add tracking numbers even if not sent with tracking as sometimes it will shorten the wait from 21 days to around 7.

Lastly ive never sold an item where paypal / ebay have forced me to add tracking. Marking any item as sent i think is good enough and i dont see you getting red flags for not adding tracking.

Sending via standard 1st or 2nd class also provides up to £20 of compensation for loss/damage

This is my first time trying I've always used the post office before.

On ebay on the postage selection page where it shows 2 options which are

Ebay delivery powered by packlink
and
Royal Mail

I select the postage option, then it takes me to paypal to process the payment, the screen then goes back to ebay were it keeps showing the Error generating label error

Is anyone else having the same problem?

The postage is coming up at 88p which is fantastic but if were to go to the post office i'm sure it will work out more expensive and really cut into any money I made because the item is low value under £9

I thought I would use this method as you recommend it, maybe its a bug or something I have no idea :-(

Is the payment through entirely through ebay or does it go through paypal to process the payment?

It has to be a major glitch

Maybe someone can check if they are having the same problem on ebay uk?

tinsoldier it finally worked!! postage label printed out

I have to cut that out and tape it to the jiffy, is there not an easier way to get the postage labels printed to sticky address labels for
jiffy sizes jl0 (small) and jl1 (dvd size) that you can print once ebay generates the postage label and just send it to print to the printer to print on the label?

tinsoldier thanks for all your help
