Got a bit of good news going forward?
Hi everyone,
Sorry for so many posts recently but you can see I’m determined to get back on ebay and in my quest to do so I read eBays ‘registering as a seller’ article on their website and I think I’ve found a weakness in their verifying information part.
Some savings accounts in the U.K. can be used to receive deposits but obviously eBay can’t take the deposits out of your account because no direct debit is set up on savings account so eBay will ask for bank statement to verify you now to quote what eBay said.
If we can’t verify your linked bank account using one of the methods above, you may need to send us a colour picture of a recent bank statement for that account. If we need this additional information, we’ll send you an email with instructions on how to upload the image.
Please make sure that the bank statement:
Is for the account you’re trying to register
Is for an account that belongs to you and shows your first and last name, or legal business name
Is 3 months old or less
Shows at least the last 4 digits of your bank account number
If it’s a credit union account, include the last 4 digits of the account number and not the member number
Contains the official letterhead of your bank
Your image can be in JPEG, JPG, PDF, or PNG format. The maximum file size is 10 MB.
Here’s the good news for U.K. account holders. I bank with many many banks and I’ve already discovered you can change address on some bank apps (not all)
Bank of Scotland
Lloyds
Nationwide all allow you to change address on the apps so if you were desperate to get back on eBay you could use a savings account with one of those banks and then just submit the bank statement to eBay job done.
Correct me if I’m wrong but it looks like eBay need to take deposits out of current bank if used to verify you so if they successfully take these deposits out of my 2 current accounts will my information then be verified and no need for ID?
I appreciate all your replies
