Can't Login to PayPal

this is weird all of a sudden I cannot log into my personal PayPal Account, when i login on my phone there's a message that says "your account has been temporarily locked." on desktop it says "Some of your info isn't correct. Please try again."

I did have a negative balance on my account for over 4 months which was around $450, I was going to pay this off so I can use my PayPal Account again. I reached out to the PayPal Facebook Page and hopefully they can help, I had a $2,000 available funds limit on the account which just started last month. they were holding 100% of funds from each sale. I've never heard of PayPal just close an account while your still using it. so trying to figure out what happened.

Just give them a ring and they will let you clear the balance over the phone

If it is a stealth account they may have discovered the details ae not correct and blocked the account, best thing is to call them and see where you are.

good question,4 months is a long time,they could have written it off or sold it to some outfit,but you should call and ask them.

During those 4 months,have they repeatedly emailed you and asked you to transfer fund from your bank account to bring it to neutral or positive>
and how did you respond?

they are sold to companies which hire workers sitting in a booth ,they will call you at work ,at home,if they cant find you,they will call your neighbor,trying to find where you are.
Usually those debts were bought for a few pennies on the dollar,anything they can collect is profit for the company.
There is a law ,they can only call you like 8:30 to 6:30 pm,if they call you at work,and you are not at your desk,they can only leave a message and ask you t o call back ,they cannot say why they call.

If I were the lender,and the customer has been ignoring my notices to transfer fund to his l account for 4 months and the account is now closed and the debt is sold,I would not want the customer back,there is just a good chance he would do it again.

Often yes sometimes no. Only paypal truly knows I'm afraid

I had that in the past , it was because I had not logged in for a while and there was an open debt

it can be done over the phone , they connect to their debt collection , they charge your card and reinstate access once payment has cleared

you must know all account details though as they verify you over the phone and also want to know full number of at least one credit that is or was on file with paypal

sometimes - only pp knows for sure - if that was the ONLY issue, your chances are good

In the USA there is a government requirement to close accounts that are delinquent and "write of the debt" which in reality does not occur as the account is handed to collections. This is done so that financial companies can not have unrecoverable debt on the books over a long period of time, which give shareholders a wrong financial impression, in essence previously financial institutions would carry millions of dollars of debt on the books over a long period of time and nobody knew about it. So if the account from PayPal USA has been delinquent for a number of months then probably it is closed "written off" and sent to collections and can not be reopened.

I advice you to call paypal directly, you can contact them via phone even if you can't login to your paypal account.

Also locks like this happens if account login was brutaforced.
Also even if restored it would be nothing but a troubles to use. If no SSN and other super sensitive info add- forget it and move on with new one. If SSN add already - cover negative to 0 balance, close down account and open a new one- will work better in a future.

By now,they have already sold the balance to some collection sweat shop where workers sit in booths calling and calling until you cant take it anymore.
if he manages to get the account open and transfer enough fund to bring balance to zero,(not ever sure what his balance is anymore since Paypal has sold it),Paypal has to notify the collection agency not to pester him anymore,I doubt Paypal would bother.
Better to open a new account

I called PayPal they gave me the number to the collection agency, once i pay it and call back they will reopen my account it's only $280

no way , with small debt they have their own collection department , this is where you call in , get connected and pay over the phone. once paid they reinstate access

You dont understand,lenders usually sell in lots,many small and big debts bundled together ,deemed uncollectible ,depending on how old they are and who is the lender (Paypal) and who are the deadbeats (most PaYPAL deadbeats are individuals),they usually sell for very little money,could be 5-30% of face value and the collector agency engage workers sitting all day making phone calls.
US is a big country,many banks,finance companies issue credit cards,loans,and they need to rid them off the books,and the best way is to sell for whatever someone is willing to pay.
Paypal debts aint worth much,as borrowers are usually individuals,and amount due is small,takes too much efforts to go after them

American Express just recently said deadbeats and lat payments have risen,due to the economy,people borrow too much and they cant pay back .
AMEX has better cardholders than other cc issuers,so expect banks to report the same.
If I were a lender,after 4 months of reminding him to cover his negative balance and he did nothing,I would not want him back,but with Paypal ,who knows.
Paypal is also known to extend business loans to ecomeerce sellers,up to $80K I heard,it is taking a beating now as ecommerce has slowed
