Dead details on Paypal

Hi

I have some old Paypal accounts with payment movement that I would like to use. I need to change the phone number on the accounts, but I also need to change the emails as the Google accounts are now dead.

Has anyone called them to change both before, any issues with that?

I have changed phone number without issue but the e-mail change...I've never done that. Can you not re-open the gmail accounts?

No, with Gmail it will say that the chosen username is not available. There are other email providers you can do it with though, like mail dot com

Paypal does not know your email is gone,if you know the password,see if you can log in
if it is still allowed,we are allowed multiple email addresses ,if you can log in,you can add new email addrs,but the old one would be your main email addr

I cannot log in as it requests SMS verification on all of them

Some do not have cell phone,is there another option?
But then you dont have email option,so you are SOL.

in the past it was possible to call and get verified over the phone , if successful they override the SMS request but you need to know all personal details of account

The only way you can get them back at this point is to call and answer all their verification questions.

well i tried changing the phone number on my accounts.

The customer service reps play games with you

At first you think that everything is going well, you confirm your data with them, they ask for a new phone number, then send you an SMS to confirm. But then you can't log in and it asks you to change your password, you change it and you still can't log in and it says something like 'we can't confirm who you are'

the customer service rep then says I have to ask you some questions about your previous address history etc, 'we use lexis nexis blah blah' at that point I hung up, because I remember it happening on previous accounts and it's not possible to pass

so changing phone number on paypal is not a formality

You are supposed t o keep track of your accounts,dead emails,dead phone,just write off those accounts.

then you should do a better job of keeping track of your own affairs

if you can not get access then open new accounts , paypal is not that hard to open and if your accounts have not had transactions in a long time they would be considered by paypal as recent accounts as far as receipt of payments is concerned

it is a system almost identical to ebay MP , ebay owned paypal in the past so they are like close relatives

Through my experience the payment history has been useful

Also it would be interesting to see if they do the same with newer accounts that I have misplaced sims for, or that have expired.

they do the same with all accounts but paypal can indeed be opened easily as long as certain rules are followed

the rules are nearly identical to what would need to be done on ebay MP so study the threads on MP here and mastering that would allow you to open as many paypal as you like. and yes it is easier than doing ebay , it is approx. on the same level of difficulty as it was on ebay 2019/2020
