Default Buyer accounts

I have some old buyer accounts that I have been trying to log into, but when I try they I get asked for SMS verification and the number is long dead, there is an option "Change number", but I'm sure they wont just let me change the number just like that.

Has anyone else tried?

Buyer accounts getting hit with this? Are you sure they aren't seller accounts?

yeh it seems it was triggered by a new IP range.

But maybe it has happened to someone else, of course if I click 'change number' it's not going to let me change it just like that.....

USB is likely right about having to get in touch with eb directly whether by call or social media. They tend to be a little more loose with buyer accounts if no abusive strikes in place.

If you click "change number" and attempt to update number that way if unable to login, they ask you to do selfie verification with ID during the next step!

Best way is to contact eBay support and they can put a request through to update to a new number you provide.

You'll need to hop on a call with them, verify your account ownership and they will change your phone number over the phone.

It might take 1 or 2 call-backs cause they usually tell you it will take around 24 - 72 hours for the change to reflect and it doesn't after that time has passed.

But yeah, call them. They'll change it for you.

----------Since it is an old account, they need to know you are the owner of the account

Another reason why I keep my Residential IP per account.
I get lazy renewing my number sometimes too.

I'd say call them and see if they'll be willing to change the number for you
