ebay business & company details

Hi guys, heres a question, i have an old ebay account registered in a relatives name, and i want to set it up as a business account, so they have no tax implications. the question is, if i change it to a business account and the actual company details differ from the registered ebay name, is that an issue?

eg dave smith is the regsistered ebay account holder,
paul daniels is the owner of the ltd company that is linked to the account and collects payments.

Any difference of info is potentially problematic for eb - could trip security flags...

it is only possible if the account had low volume like barely sold anything in the past

then the personal details would need to be changed on the account as long as it is personal

after that the account starts selling for a few months

and only later it is upgraded to business

but if it is an established account any change of personal details is a risk

can i add an additional member to the account? the account has over 160 feedback so id rather do this then start selling on a new account

160 feedback is not much,to avoid getting suspended,why not start your own,you can quickly build up your feedback

the only more or less safe way would be to use a limited company where the old person would be director and later an additional director is added

although always take into account that ebay CS is populated by mad monkeys so that any change of personal details where name and DOB and even address gets changed is dangerous

make sure that the additional director has details that are 100% verifiable through softcheck

it might appear comical but ebay tends to screw people for honesty and reward for fraud. as an example they regularly suspend people who have changed their address and would like to follow the rules by updating it on ebay but if the address has not been updated with credit agencies yet they suspend for this on 2nd/3rd attempt of correction since credit agencies usually need a few weeks to update and later down the line after suspension once the address finally got updated in the database of credit agencies ebay does not care anymore and will repeat the same text templates about how you represent a risk to the community etc.

and they will also never tell you what the problem is because they fear people find out and circumvent the system

There are filing costs and maintenance cost/year,what state is he in?
I see he is in UK,this applies to USA.
If he is in UK and wants to set up LLC in US,he would then need to hire an agent,more fees !

Not sure where you got "US" into it - post seems to be about UK business

uk ltd is cheap to set up and run , the issue here is that verification is a risk

in general it is not recommended to upgrade to an ltd company from a personal account if the original account owner does not stay as director as ebay may see it as change of ownership which is not allowed by their terms despite not being illegal in general

You are right,he is in UK,but I would expect there are some rules on rules and fees
