Default Purchase Limit Policy violated, closing Amazon.com customer account, temp reinstated?

Hi Everybody,

I need some advice and help from anybody else that may have had this experience. Please note, this is my first Amazon.com seller account and is totally legitimate and not stealth in any way. I've sold over $300,000 through this account in the last 3 years, and have purchased over $800,00 worth of merchandise.

I was locked out of my account the other day, and called to see why I couldn't login. I was told that my information needed to be verified.

Then I received the following email.

Hello from Amazon.com,

We want as many customers as possible to be able to enjoy the items we sell, and so for some popular items we've limited the quantity that may be purchased from our store.

We've noticed that you have recently exceeded that limit with your orders on multiple accounts. We have put these limits in place for several reasons and to ensure a fair experience for all of our customers, we must enforce them.

As a result, your account was closed. However, we have now reinstated your account, so that you can complete your
pending sales.

Your account will remain open for few days before it's closed again.

If you require additional assistance, feel free to contact me directly at cis@amazon.com.

Best regards,

Account Specialist
Amazon.com

I have been told by numerous seller support agents that only my "buyer account" is being closed and that my seller account is still ok.

I wrote an email requesting reinstatement of my account and even laid out a plan of action of how to avoid this in the future, and recieved another email.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding the cancellation of your Amazon.com customer account.

I understand your viewpoint, and I regret that you are so disappointed by our company's decision.

As mentioned earlier, we'll not be able to reinstate your account. However, your account will remain open for few days so that you can complete your pending sales.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your comments with us. Please know that we respect your opinions and value your feedback.

Best regards,

Account Specialist
Amazon.com

Only 1 person at Amazon.com out of about 25 people that I spoke with has told me that my Seller account may be closed as well.

does anybody have any experience with this policy, and has anybody heard of their buyer account being closed and seller account remaining open?

I use the same email to login to both accounts so that is why I am so worried.

thanks
JR

It's sad to see good accounts done in - whether on eBay, Amazon, or whatever. Sadly, from what I have read and experience with Amazon, it's point finale with them. There is not much to be done. They decide on you being a risk or whatever, you're bumped.

If they only close your buyer account, I don't think it's a big deal for you as you can always set up another buyer account in a sec.

However, closing your buyer account because you bought too much?
I don't know, but aren't they suppose to treat you like a VIP instead of closing you out?

Exactly. If someone spent $800k with ME, they would be invited to come by the office for a tour, I would charter a jet to pick them up and put them up in the nicest suite at the best nearby hotel. Every meal eaten would be on me, at the nicest restaurants in town.

I thought I had seen it all, but this is the first time I have seen an account canceled because the person BOUGHT TOO MUCH!

Amazon should be kissing your a**, not kicking you to the curb!

I would send an email to Jeff Bezos office. This does not sound like rational business policy to me. Maybe the decision was made by a lower level person who does not know what they are doing.

Seriously, anyone who spends that kind of money with them should get better treatment, even if some little policy WAS violated. If Amazon does not want your money, I am certain that just about any other e-commerce site would do almost anything to get you as a customer.

this sounds rather odd, that they would close your account because you purchase too much.....are you buying the items and reselling on amazon?

What products are you selling? I know if you are selling some items that Amazon drop ships, they will get mad because you are technically stealing their sells. We had a Company of a product we sell call and tell us that only Amazon could sell their products and that we couldn't list their products on Amazon. But if we wanted to FBA through Amazon, that would be okay. I told them to take their products and shove them up their shute.

In this day and age, you may consider the possibility that they may believe you are somehow laundering money.

I dont know, just thinking out loud.......

Ok, so I finally spoke with a seller account representative on Tuesday that promised me that should we get a definitive answer regarding the closure buyer account and whether it was related to my seller account.

The answer finally came today via Phone call. Yes, both accounts are linked and the CIS team is closing your account. She stated that she presented information regarding my strong selling history and that I would be an asset to lose and they told her that the decision was made and that it is final.

They also told her that I should no longer contact seller support regarding this case.

The seller support person apologized about everything and all the confusion, and started telling me that my wife can open an account and sell under it. I started to ask her whether the IP address would be linked and she didn't even know that until she asked a supervisor about it.

I'm pissed off and don't really know where to go from here.

Before I try to go stealth, I would really like to exhaust my possibilities of reinstatement.

Do you guys recommend contacting Jeff Bezos office? I've seen people on here do that with limited success.

Any thoughts?

Also , what about my wife opening an account. I would assume that I should still follow stealth rules, but that it could be done with a legimate human behind the account.

Thanks,
Steve

Ok, I will.

Is it better to snail mail a registered letter or use the Jeff@amazon.com address?

Jeff Bezos will most likely never see the email, but the people in his office will.

Ok, so I sent in the email and I also sent a certified letter. I got a response on Friday saying that I would get another response in 1-2 business and here it is. I am not a happy camper to say the least.....

Hello ######,

As you may recall, I'm Aaron DeFoe of Amazon.com's Executive Customer Relations. Please accept my sincere apologies for the time it has taken to respond.

Another review of your account has been done to ensure that any decision regarding your accounts was made in accordance with our policies. Our stance on this matter has not changed. I'm sorry, but we will not reopen your closed Amazon.com accounts. This decision is final.

#####, I know you are not happy with our decision, and I regret we've been unable to address your concerns to your satisfaction. We'll not be able to offer any additional insight or action on this matter.

Regards,

Aaron M DeFoe
Executive Customer Relations

So whats my next move..... I guess its really over huh??? Any advice from anyone?

My interaction with Amazon is limtied but they are pretty final and no disclosure which is irritating,

I would write a follow-up letter asking if there is any thing you can do in good faith to ease back onto the amazon scene but otherwise, begin charging up other stealth accounts.

Don't break any more hairs on this in my opinion.

rsot, the thing is, that is not a stealth account. It the only seller account i ever opened.

The problem has nothing to do with my seller account. I pre ordered an xbox kinect on 3 different accounts and it was limited to 1 per household.

nobody999, see my first post above.

I really feel F$ck#d right now

I guess I'm going to have to go stealth, but the thing is I still have access to my account and even have 3 sales in the last day. They won't tell me when the account will be closed out for good. Until then I can sell as I please.

Its so frustrating.... I also sent a certified snail mail letter where I even included the purchase limit policy and went to a local notary and had them notarize my signature on the policy just to show my willingness not to violate the policy again. Bear in mind I was never even warned......
