Default (how to guide) BT hone hub easy restart / change ip from desktop

Hi. I dont know if this is any good as I am new to all this but it works for me..... well it has so far!!!!! (if anyone knows if it is a bad idea, please let me know asap before I open up more accounts)

If you cant be bothered to get up and physically reset you bt home hub modem to change the ip addy, you can do it from your browser via

bthomehub.home

whilst you are connected, goto above addy and click disconnect.

once disconnected... a few seconds, click connect

recheck your ip.... should have changed..... sometimes, I only had it once, it did not change, so if you use this, please check your ip has changed afterwards

you can check it via the same homehub link above or via one of the many sites that check.

If my info is useless please let me know. Thanks

LOL - no information is 'useless'.

Resetting the BT Homehub will change your IP address every time (have used it for years) but it wont change the MAC. There is still debate as to whether eBay can track your MAC so if it works then keep doing it.

Thanks for the headz up on the MAC.

As a paranoid freak, I now use SMAC - MAC changer - every time I change ebay/paypal accounts.

If you are on here then you wont mind downloading a 'funky' version of it..... search google for it... it is called smac 2.7 beta - works on win 7 and below.

Also as a paranoid freak I am thinking that maybe this site could be 'linked' and I may have...... soz owner... as mentioned... paranoid (maybe a good thing??!!).... I dont think this site is linked but if I get 'popped' I will blame here as I find it is always good too blame someone else... haha... only joking.

Thanks to everyone for all their feedback and information..... you lot helped me a good bit... I hope I can help back

Sorry.. I personally have no experience with your orange dilema. I am certain someone on here can help. If no one replies within a few days, maybe open a new thread or do a search to see if anyone has had same issue.

Oh..... 1-8 hours is more than annoying... thats suicide chat!!!! If I had that issue on a daily basis, i would look into it to make life easy peasy... good luck with your quest..... mabe you can access your router from your pc and do it from there but as mentioned, I have no knowledge of that setup
