has ebay trading made you less frantic ?
OK lets take a break from suspension issues and presume (even if not true) we all have pretty robust systems with lots of backup shop. Several Shops are operating, lots of orders, other people around you to pick up the slack and you have days off. You may be able to pick and choose what business to do. Kind of like those dragons on TV. So has your mode of mind altered to be less frantic, and more dragon like ?
Might seem strange to ask, I am asking myself this as I notice that making the transaction from everyday interaction to running a business on the internet results in a less frantic mind set. Does anybody have similar experience ? and is it a good thing ? All this stealth stuff has a similarity to the modes of thought used by top business strategists. I was made aware of this today.
IRL jobs and interactions, even businesses I had there is a pressure people instinctively put on each other to speed up and look hyper vigilant, and to be seen to be carrying out activity even if its fruitless.
in the internet arena it appears reflecting, and being creative gives rise to more dividends. At times be hypervigilant, but its removed from everyday f2f style.
i.e. If I spend a week being creative, pottering about, I may think of a whole set of systems that totally alter my setup so somebody else can run some of my ebay shops, thereby freeing myself up from being so caught up in them there is no freedom to think.
There is of course a frantic aspect in online trading but its not seen, and not like a stockbroker floor. I may stay up late trying to resolve problems, but there is no need for me to seen to be busy, or be time critical to that degree. All that matters from all this is what systems I create that operate well, and stay robust, predict, react to various threats to produce return. These are more space than time orientated. Time is standardized by couriers and supply dates so it feels like I am playing a super complicated chess game where the best strategy is to kick back, try and always increase my insight into web space. What is going on the marketplace and move.
Although I had a few business IRL long time ago I only just starting in to this way of doing things (and getting a bit fatter) so was curious as to how others frame of mind (and waist size) has altered since making the transition from IRL f2f work into realm of the internet.
