Do you get a debit card or is it just an online bank as such ?

When you login to your smile account, there should be an option to contact customer support and you can request to have your account closed through their message system. You should get a reply within 24 hours and they will ask to make sure there is 0.00 balance and to then reply back confirming that you want them to proceed closing your account.

That's how I done it.

All major banks carry out a credit check for account applications.

However for basic accounts they will usually only require ID verification.

....because SMILE.co uk and co-op are merged as the same bank, if I already have 3 bank accounts open with co-op does that mean I shouldnt really open any with SMILE otherwise they might start asking questions?
