Exclamation Increase Limits by letter from ebay UK

Created a new eBay account recently. (Well Today)

They gave me a selling limit of 10. My instincts told me to hold on and sell a few things and allow the selling limits to increase themselves. However I did the contrary and clicked on the 'request higher selling limits' link.

This is what I got:

To sell more on eBay, confirm your address through the postal service.
Here's how it works

We'll mail a letter with a confirmation code to your address:
(My Stealth Address)

When you receive the letter, go to the selling allowances section in My eBay to complete the confirmation.

After your confirm your address, we'll increase your selling allowances.

Then under that it says:

Unable to receive a letter at your address right now?

Go to My eBay. When you're ready to take the letter, click the 'Request higher selling allowances' link.

If you've been selling on eBay using another account, you can confirm ownership of your other account to increase your selling allowances.

Anyone else come across this? Seems like I have just wasted a bank account

Been happening off and on for ages.

Stealth tip A: always have access to an account address.

I knew of that tip, and I agree its great to have access to a account address. But I do not have any addresses that I have access to for this purpose.

Paying for a post box is one way around it.

PO Box is not a good option really as the real owner information is available to anyone who requests it from RM, there are better ones around

you can find mailboxes places that will receive mail for you and then upload all your mail to e-mail and deliver it to your inbox. Extremely useful

will only take you to 25/750 on such a young account.
If you cant take the letter after 90 days ebay stop this option anyway and increase if you have a bank account attached.
Letters are random on uk accs some get it some dont .
I have it twice on approx 20 accounts recently

No mystery, linking a verified p/p account will normally get your selling limits increases from 10 to 25.

I normally request an increase after the first few + f/b's so it can be done in just a few days after you actually start selling.

Only very occasionally does the letter and pin code come up, it is not standard e/b practice to send a letter on all requests to raise limits

Do you normally link your PP to eB after you receive a few feedback too? Or do you link it at the beginning?

I always have an active paypal to attach to a new ebay.

Always attach from the start. Been ideal for me as it reduces issues.

I have chosen the letter option when appropriate an it has raised the limits on a new account to 100 items, or £3,500. These are personal accounts, so it's worth doing.
