Why do we need a credit card?

Hi, i'm new to this. Why do we need a credit card? can't understand why. surely we can just use our own bank accounts instead?

The credit card is to verify your address, your bank dont send your address details to eBay/PayPal

For PP:

Bank VERIFIES the account.
Credit card CONFIRMS the account.

Both needed to maximize limits on the account and helps for account security.
