Creating ebayUK account from outside UK

Hello

I wanted to ask if it is ok to sell on ebayUK if you are based in Europe. My PayPal is linked to a european bank in Czech Rep. I want to sell on ebayUK? But I want to change my address to my UK address on the ebay site so that i appear as a 'UK seller' (i have a UK address). Would this be a problem? I read somewher ethat ebay and Paypal need to have same address?!

usually ebay and paypal need the same address, correct.

you have 2 options

It is possbile to have a paypal in cz and an ebay for uk with uk address, probably a business acc would be best but ebay may check you out to see why.

I know of a few businesses that are based in china, so would have china paypal but have shipper in UK, the packages come from the Uk to Uk customers. If your packages are coming from cz, you may run in to issues at some point.

Other option is be cz for both eb and pp and you can choose where to say your goods come from on the listing eg. country dropdown menu. Again they may check out why.

If you have a UK address, then you can say goods are shipped from there.

If you know the risks you can make the decision.

many thanks for feedback. havent listed anything yet but have switched my address to the UK one. my thinking is that goods will be listed at the top if u are a uk seller. but i understand ebay may check me out. I would be posting things from Cz. do ebay they phone you to verify a change of address? Im only gonna be selling a handful of items at the start anyway...but dont want to get suspended or something.

Welcome to the forums.

Make your account on ebay cz as a seller.

Then list on eB UK. Do the necessary changes in the auction listing e.g. source of shipment, etc.

rsot,thanks for that. Just not sure what you mean. Do you mean have account with cz adress or uk address?( I have account with cz address and czech paypal.) and then list on ebayuk,and list the item as coming from CZ?

aha. I have just tried to list on ebUK (i have changed my address to the UK one) but at the end it asks me if i want a CALL or TEXT confirmation to my registered number which is a UK landline ?! So I would need a UK mobile number....all very frustrating.

You don't need to give yourself a UK address.

Just listing on UK eBay will give you the items in £, and receive money to your native PayPal.

Yes that is ok. But I think people wont buy from sellers outside the UK so its an advantage to be a UK Seller with UK location for item i think....

Should have checked here before doing that.

You would need a contact number in any case.

Well I didnt actually list in the end, ie I didnt click on any CALL or TEXT option.I will get a UK sim and then do it. It may be possible to set up another account separately in the uK anyway, are you allowed to set up another account in the same name?

keep the accounts seperate and you can set up as many as you want. do not mix addresses.

ebay prefers the accounts to be made at the same time.

Consider spreading accounts for more sales.

This is the way - you just list on UK eB.

When you fill out the auction form, there is a field to change where the origin of the item is...you can set it to a different place (UK for example) - be correct with your buyers.

That is important to have it displayed to the buyers item location.
