Has anyone noticed the USPS getting much worse lately?

Most of you know that I normally defend the USPS, because they normally do an awesome job and deliver on time, for the most part. I always expect some bottlenecks during the Christmas rush, it is understandable given the volume.

But I had a couple of glitches with the USPS over Christmas where first class packages were delayed for more than 10 days. Apparently ALL of the ones mailed on certain days. It took about 7-8 days to move from the origin sorting center to the destination sorting center.

But now, I have noticed that this is happening to both packages I am mailing and receiving AFTER January 1st. Sometimes even with priority mail. For example, I order from an e-cig company pretty regularly that uses priority mail to ship their items. Normally, I get them in 2 or 3 days. Now, I have one that has been knocking around in their system for 10 days.

Is anyone else having these issues?

I just had someone email me complaining that the priority mail package I sent them still hasn't arrived after 4 days. I thought they were being fickle until I saw the tracking showed it haven't even left my state!

I def think delivery times have slowed. It's possible its due to the severe weather in some parts of the country lately.

Yes, They are getting horrible with scanning, tracking and over all service.

I have had several packages that I shipped out on monday JUST start scanning around an hour ago still in my area :(

I will rest my accounts from now on during the holidays. I am taking stings left and right thanks to them.

I have a package in Illinois shipped on Friday that still hasn't left the state. It was shipped UPS. Not even an estimated date. Thier hub in Kentucky had really bad weather and the ground shipments could not go on the trains becuase of the weather.

I had a buyer who bought from 2 of my stealths. Of course he didn't know. He was complaining in one of the accounts of how the other account had already arrived but the other account hasn't, both bought on the same day. It's been 2 days and its finally out for delivery. So funny. I hope he doesn't complain or suspect its the same person! The envelope and return address is the same. Name of course is different. Lol.

Yes. I have been ordering personal stuff and always use USPS Priority or Express. Priority has been extremely slow and it all just started doing this.

They have went to using many contract workers to get away from the high pay the postal workers get.

This may be a major cause.

I actually had a great experience with USPS from January all the way through September once October came disaster November December and even now January packages are not scanning at all it's really driving me crazy because whether the packages are making it to the location or not it's a lost item I have to reship it, and in every case I had to reship it because the customer said that no they didn't receive it and I'm sure most of them are being honest , luckily I make enough profit on one item to buy four items so I was able to take that loss and not be hurt but one week eight packages disappeared, and it's not the wrong postage I do everything flat rate and I packaging very well

Just a follow up on this issue. I contacted USPS and was informed the reason for delays was due to severe weather in the Midwest and Northeast (their automated system is playing that recording and the Rep told me the same).

I checked the tracking and the item arrived at the recipients local Post Office and is expected to be delivered today (2 days later than expected 3 day delivery).

i have ben getting a-z claims left and right because of this cr@p. Ive never gotten this many a-z claims in all my years on amazon combined. USPS is getting ridiculous.

I get lots of packages not even scanned in which I hate makes me look like I took there money and printed postage and never shipped the item , I sent multiple orders a second item and all at once the tracking updated from 0 to delivered so I just let them keep both, but it's happening way too much I need to look at alternate services because usps postage is cheaper but when I factor in every4 th order gets an star free now unbelievable they did great for me up to 3 months ago

I have got about a 25 Mile radius that I travel within. There are about 6 different post office spots. Over the past 6-8 years I have learned which ones I truest to drop stuff off at and ones that cause me more problems.

Personally I like to drop things off at the bigger Post Offices. Ones that are the hubs and what not. A sorting center if possible. I have found because they have so much more traffic the people there tend to be much smarter and more aware of what is going on.

The more rural post offices I think is where they designate the "dumb" workers. Especially for the front desk. These people deal with old ladies trying to pick out stamps rather than people trying to run businesses and move items. Just found those places have cause me much more problems. When I had a Box at two of these small PO my package keys kept getting left for other people etc. It was a nightmare.

For me over the past 10 years. Once my packages have gotten in the system. I would say about 99.9% have had the tracking shown delivered. I have had more losses dropping off packages and having them disappear never get scanned in etc. I would say that is more like 99.3 or 99.5%. Which is even worse because on top of that buyer gets all pissed off and you have to tell them you dropped it off please wait a day or two to see if it shows up etc. Complete hassle.

Yep it's the worst when it looks like your being lazy and never even dropped the packages off, I'm in the same kind of area as you, city access to 6 offices in a small radius , but I actually got myself in good with the people in the2 maned smaller office and more my items go lostin the big hub.

I started bringing them donuts or pretzels every week and now they take great care of the items I bring in now however I need the larger office for the extended daily hours and open till 4 pm Saturday when all the rest are closed or open till 1130am and weekdays the large are open till 7 P.m. or as the rest close at 4:30 PM to 5 PM

I got one Post Office here where they actually have a dock that the bulk mail customers can drive up to and leave packages. So that is what I do most the time when I have quite a bit to ship. When I have fewer packages I have two spots with those 24 Hour Drop Boxes that I leave packages in usually late at night or whatever so I don't have to deal with them in the morning.

Knock on wood but that has been my formula for a while now. Haven't hardly had a problem.
