Default Paypal doesn't accept saver account

I opened a new paypal account nearly a month ago. On this one I tried to add a new Natwest saver. Tried a few weeks ago, tried again this week, still has the same message. Something like 'There is problem with the details you have entered, please enter a different bank account'. It seems to me Savers are not acceptable any more for PP. Can anyone verify this?

Secondly and most important - can I continue with this PP account and provide a new current account or has it already been flagged so it will have restrictions?

Savers are fine - I noticed quite often there is a glitch on the PayPal system.

Sometimes you need to ring PP and get them to add it manually for you.

If I ring PP will they ask me for my name and address? If they are mis-spelled names that would be shooting myself in the foot.

Actually these stealth names don't look too bad. Will give it a try and report back.

I rang Paypal and said it was a savings account, they said they don't accept savings accounts. Is this BS from the operative? Should I try again not mentioning it's a savings account at all?

They do accept savings accounts.

Sounds like you might have a bad operative to me.

If they dont specifically mention, is your account a savings account I avoid the subject all together and just say for some reason my 'bank account' isnt adding and most of the time this is all thats needed to prompt them to add it manually for me.

Saying that they can pick up on their end if it is a saver or not, but I've never experience this being a problem - not in the recent past anyway.

Different account would be easier.

Add a basic account.

All under control.

Stops all the fluffing around speaking to paypal and having an account checked.

I don't think Natwest savers work at all now. I rang paypal again, didn't mention it was a saver. Operative made the 0.01 credit, nothing appears in my bank account.

Natwest savers do work, i have been using mine for over a year and i use my partners on another, when i tried adding my partners i was also getting the error message, but i left it a few days tried again and it failed again, then i left it a week tried and it worked, someone told me not to spam attempts as you do not want to draw attention to the account, but it did finally work.

It's the saver you can open instantly when you have online banking with a current account. The operative paid the 0.01 during the phone call and nothing is in my account more than a day later so I have to assume Natwest savers don't work. On the bank card it just says 'Savings' in raised letters.

I guess that is the instant saver then.

I use those fine.. are you sure you are putting in the correct sort code in?
Does it pick up that it is a natwest account when you try put it on paypal?

Usually you need put in a £1.00 to activate the savings account.

'We are unable to process bank account' or somesuch when I put it in. Yes bank details are all correct. Anyway I'm wasting no more time with Natwest savers - mine doesn't work. Will use only current accounts in future.

The problem is on your paypal account then. A while ago people were having problems adding bank accounts, you had to call paypal to get them to add it manually.
Just mention it is a savings account, as most call agents will say they do not accept them because not all of them can accept the DD mandate.

Just open a Halifax easy cash account. It is a basic account.

Added a current account instead, went through no problem. I am flagging a potential problem with saver accounts.
