Default Community IP quandry.......

Howdy,

Just looking for a little info here. I bought the stealth guide, read it and live by it.

I am just curious about IP addresses for community networks. I guess what I mean is that I would imagine some businesses / schools have Static IP addresses. Lots of people accessing the net through the same router, using the same IP. I don't want it to be a technical discussion though.

I am curious as to just how important the IP thing really is. If you have dozens of workers / students using the same network, (same IP) then won't you run into problems with the IP tracking? If worker "X" gets suspended, don't all others using ebay on that same network get linked erroneously? BIG DEAL WITH HOTEL NETWORKS......

I have one stealth account which I only access through my local public library. I get the same IP every time and the account is growing well at 60 days old. I am sure other people access EB/PP through this library and probably some are restricted / banned and have not bought the stealth guide. So will that guy get the rest of us banned? Same goes with a Starbucks, dorm, truckstop, brothel and anywhere else.

I get the piece about my home network.

The thing is a bad ip can get you banned but normally bad ips will get you reviewed and if your acct is stealth or has any possible issues they are now raised for review.

It is very important. Do not take it for granted.

Yes, that is exactly the problem you have when sharing the same IP.

There are many stories of ppl getting their accounts banned and then trying to use a family members account from the same IP. It may work for a few days/months, but eBay will eventually link it.

You say this is a stealth account, yet you operate it in an open public IP? So what exactly is stealth about it?

Stop using your account in public places and start gaining control of your own IP by using an Internet dongle, tethering, etc.

Thanks for your insightful advice, however, my point of the post was to see what people thought about ebay banning based on IP when dozens (or more) of people might be stuck using the same IP. Does only one bad account ruin the rest of them?

Let me make it a little more simple for you by restating the situation........

Some people are stuck with access to a single IP address which is just fie for them and their purposes. Some really really bad dude sells a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ purse and gets banned from ebay. Would the others be banned only becasue they all use the same IP?

I am not talking your family losing a spouse account, I am talking many accounts being worked or just checked on from office or dorm.

No, of course not. There are others factors that play a significant role like cookies for example.
Nevertheless all the others accounts, accessing from the same ip, might be under strict surveillance as well and might be reviewed just for this reason.

Let's put it this way, accessing your account from your own pools of ips, not from pubblic ones, will contribute to make your account stronger and stay out of trouble.
