I agree with what revenge said. It is not worth it to lie about anything when trying to get a loan or a lease agreement. Because if you find yourself unable to pay, and they catch the fact that you lied about your income, it could become a criminal matter. And that you do not want.
If the landlord wants to rent the place, then he should be willing to work with you. In most places these days, there are PLENTY of empty stores. So, OK, you may not be their dream tenant. But if the landlord has no other offers, then he might be willing to take the chance.
