Can I pay to get my auction bump?

One of my competitors is beating me in sales. Idk how he is higher rank than me in the search on ebay. I remember reading something that I can pay to get my auction bump to the top. How much is it and how can I do this. I don't see it in the advance settings or basic.

It's in the listing upgrades. You can pay for different options to have your listings be more visible, etc. When you are listing your item you will see the options. They all come with a fee though.

Listing upgrades

Whichever listing format you select, you always have the option of adding additional features to your listing. Listing upgrade fees are charged at the time of listing and are nonrefundable. Here is a list of featured upgrades:

Bold title: Set your listing apart in search results by displaying your title in bold.

Gallery Plus: Attract buyers with a larger version of your listing photo in search results with Gallery Plus.

Subtitle: Add more descriptive and enticing information below the main title.

Listing Designer: Enhance your listing with attractive themes.

Value Pack: Value Pack gives you essential listing upgrades including Gallery Plus, Subtitle, and Listing Designer for less than if you paid for each individually.

International site visibility: Attract more buyers from other countries by showing your item in search results on other eBay websites.

Multi-category listing: Reach more shoppers and generate more interest in your item by listing in two or more appropriate categories.

Since most listing upgrades are flat fees, it's a good idea to compare the fee to the value of your item. For example, you might promote your item differently if you were listing a modern edition of the book The Wizard of Oz for $15 than if you were listing a first edition for $1,500.

There is no way to technically pay to get your listing higher.

Offering free shipping, beings TRS, and having a good return policy can help a lot.

I truly think the BIGGEST factor is your sales. I've spread sales across alot accounts but lately Ive increased inventory on a select few accounts so naturally my sales increase. I'm averaging about 2-3 sales per day listing generally similar items.

In categories where there are more then 5000+ listings im in the top 5, usually #1. It's crazy to know I'm ahead of that many sellers but the bottom line is my stuff sells. eBay is a business at the end of the day. If you are proving your stuff sells BETTER then your competitors then you will be 1. I don't even offer free shipping.

Why would eBay lower a seller selling more frequent with close to 0 issues related to defects? They don't. You can be TRS offer anything and everything but if your stuff doesn't sell, why would eBay "promote you"? They won't and don't. Sure everyone gets a bump early on the age of the account or for the first few days of the listings but when you maintain that 1-5 spot you gain sooooo many more sales you wouldn't have. It's all about getting to that point. Once your there it's all about customer service and avoiding any and all defects, negatives at all cost

listing best match actually switches. unlike amazon and google listing which best match is on top...ebay listing usually best match is on top. but they eventually have to let little guy on top also.

also if you search your own items, it won't be on top, because they know you aren't going to buy your own stuff.

if you change your ip and search than it will vary bc most ip foreign and best match (one factor is location). if your in usa, most best match is usa listing, they won't show you UK listings on top

I have never used listing upgrades as such, as I believe in good and strong titles and description, shipping conditions and pricepoints. I understand that different categories require different tactics and if I'd have 7 million iPhone chargers I would most likely pimp out my listing to the max as its worth the time and trouble but for single items I can't see logic behind it(Unless you are selling something thats super rare and expensive, with very very high profit margin).

I sell in same category across all my accounts, but products are different. Sometimes when I'm looking for a competition pricepoints its pretty funny to see how out of top 10 items, more than half are mine.
Same happens when I check Terapeak last 30 day sales- I need to pay attention to whats mine and whats not, so that I wouldn't confuse my prices with competition.

As I said, it boils down to competition and how aggressive is your category but never underestimate the simple things in life- The quality of the listing itself. Any asshole can add a ton of extras, but few 14 year olds take time to write up a decent description.

There have to be some technique because if there is no actual way to get your listing bump, then there got to be some trick. Because I am a power seller and this guy isn't even a power seller and is higher than mine. I don't even think feedback matters. I got way more watcher and sales than him but his listing is higher than mine and he is catching up.

What about states? Does states matter? If someone lives in the same state as you, will it shows up first?

Are those the only listing upgrades? I could of sworn I saw something about paid to get your auction bumped. Does bump not exist?
