2nd warning asking for tax ID... stop selling or keep going?

So I got my second notice asking for my tax ID. I counted my sales and I am at the 175 mark for the year. Am I safe to keep selling till I hit 199 or should I stop now? This is one of my best accounts so I don't want risk anything but it would cost me a lot of sales ($$$$) if I stop now. I will spread my sales more next year!

i kept listing and in a week my paypal got closed.. personally think about this though
1) account stops working anytime in the future and you lose the stream from that account
2) if you have money in it now it could get locked and you'd lose money in it

did you leave much in it?

This is how my paypal account got shut down. I didnt pay attention to the letters and kept selling, and now my account is indefinatley suspended

From my experience I would stop.. I know its Christmas season and you wanna sell, sell but I had this happen last month and I kept selling and even slowed down but then it got limited all of a sudden.. I have read that you start over at the beginning of the year, so if you have back ups and want to save it.. Id stop completely.. And then share info with us at the beginning of the year

Yeah I would advise stopping and using another account for now, cause sometimes they limit you earlier than the actual limit

It was more like the middle of February last year.

Had me worried because I started thinking they weren't going to reset.

There are tons of forum members who rotate through accounts in order to avoid having 1099's sent out, so they don't have to pay taxes on their online income. It's a hot topic around here.

Personally I do a little of both. I have business accounts, then I've got about 2 dozen smaller accounts with no Tax ID that I use to sell more expensive items on throughout the year.

interesting. does it mean that you basically can ignore this request if you stop selling? And it will go away next year?

I'm asking, because got a letter from PP (not US though) saying that I'm reaching the transaction limit for my acc and have to provide some proofs of identity. I stopped selling, but still wondering would this request disappear in January or I have to provide docs in any way.

No they don't send you an email, but yes you can start selling again.

Like I said in my last post, the tax ID requests went away for my accounts around mid-February this year. I did not try selling before the tax requests went away so I can't comment on the Jan. 4th date mentioned by bluegrass.

Iwill add i think its better to lock it then when it rolls over the request goes away . when it dont lock seems like they hit you pretty fast the next year for the request again .

None of my request notifications for tax id ever went away on my paypals. I got fed up of waiting and eventually started selling on my accounts in the beginning of february. Everything was fine.

What can non usa seller with a usa stealth accounts do with this issue? if im selling 100k each month on ebay so my only option is to open 5 paypal accounts each month and rotate between them and connect each one to my ebay account when i reach 20k sells?
