Get a disposable phone number- pay as you go sim card or something- you can use the same number 5 times before they say its reached maximum. You can do this with a lot of email accounts, but eventually they will disable all your email accounts if you create too many and they are all linked. This has happened to me- I used to have a lot of email addresses all forwarded to the one gmail account and have it set up so I could reply from any of the accounts via that one account. One day I created one email too many and they all got disabled at once- absolute nightmare! lost lots of very important information, contact details etc because I hadnt saved it anywhere else due to Google's promise "never delete another email". I tried going back to hotmail and yahoo for a few days but after using gmail they are just too **** to back to. There is no alternative which compares to gmail.

I always have around 40 Gmail accounts I check every 5 minutes with the same IP. No problems. I also have no problems opening new Gmail accounts.

Just grab a friends cell phone for a few minutes and create a few more.

8 is fine. Gmail is best for stealth purposes.
This thread has info as well.

Hey GreenBean, why exactly is gmail the best for stealth purposes? Since they have turned over, they no longer have folders to place my mail into, they only have labels that sit in your inbox. Is it not advisable to switch to a yahoo acccount? Thanks!

They are good for stealth since images can be easily blocked from loading & the end user ip does not get sent out, instead google's server ip address is sent.

Waaaait a minute. Let me get this right...

So, if I hit reply in my email client instead of the eBy button "reply to sender" no one will know where I am?

Wow -

Much has been discussed on here why they prefer gmail.

Law enforcement/authorities & google themselves will know where you are.

So it it just not advisable because of image loading and ip address? If so, makes since, but still hate to even log on I'm so frustrated with gmail. I'll have to live with it I suppose. But would rather switch to a simple yahoo account...not hotmail though.

Thanks everyone!

There are alternatives to Gmail though Gmail is preferred due to the convenience of the image blocking ('images'...think web tracking beacons in this context.) & the end user IP not being able to be detected by arch enemy EB/PP.

You can use yahoo as you can block image loading & Images in yahoo are already blocked by default. You could setup a yahoo account & set up a Gmail account to auto foward to the yahoo account .....this seems to be a good way forward. Or you could set up your ebay account settings to only send text via only email (no images), this way any email provider can be used, & image blocking is an option..

I would say yahoo is not as safe as gmail in my opinion BUT many others report no issue with using yahoo (when images are blocked) & other gmail email alternatives. I'd only use yahoo just as an email where I'd not respond via it to EB/PP.

As long as you don't reply to the EB/PP email via your yahoo email or click on anything in there then you should be fine.

So if gmail doesn't send your IP address why couldn't you reply to an eBay message from gmail? As long as your not clicking any link inside the body of the email and using gmail's reply button how can this reveal anything?

Someone help me understand.

The images would have displayed IP, obviously this risk is stopped IF you blocked the email client from loading images.

The risk with replying to EB/PP directly via the email client, is that any other web beacon transmitted via email may have secret embedded codes hidden in the email link to ID you...

I hope this clarifies it a bit for you.

How can there be any secret embedded codes if there is no images loaded and is only text?

There are ways of embedding HTML /any other code (i.e <a href="mailto:yourname@something.com">Contact Me</a>) in the email link needed to create the email link.

In this case, that EB link from EB in your email account that you click to send a message from your email account directly to EB, THAT link itself may have embedded text code on it when it crosses over to EB from your email A/C even though no images have been loaded. It is a risk.

The image beacon from EB is one known web tracker beacon which is prevented by blocking it from loading, the link from your email to EB is ANOTHER potential web tracker beacon & hence the advice to only use EB messaging when conducting communications within EB.

Any web tracker beacons from the (blocked) images would potentially be different/another set of tracker web beacons from the embedded code web beacons potentially being sent via to EB from your email account.

This sample embed code here:
(i.e <a href="mailto:yourname@something.com">Contact Me</a>) is NOT an image but this code itself in addition to a few other embed code could be embedded to end up sending information between/to/from your email A/C to EB.

JavaScript embeds is another text code that could be embedded & appearing as a plain text link in your EB link. The simplest embed method is a direct link, a url to EB from your email client. This is just one example.

I suggest you read around the subject in the ebay tracking section on the board & subsections. Here is one such link:
These folks on that thread & across the board have had many a debate on the issue.

This is a contentious & complex subject. I apologize for the waffle in this reply, I have tried to explain this in simple terms.

Thanks SUVE! I really like the idea of forwarding from gmail to yahoo! That way, I can have folders to file everything and to help stay organized at the same time.
Huge help and do appreciate your time!

I am more than happy to help. I had meant to alter the above text slightly as I had reworded an easier & simpler explanation re: web beacon tracking query further up.
