Activity: 0% Longevity: 81% | | hail mary post: what can i sell on ebay?
i wonder what the hell i can sell on ebay without the daily fear of suspension.
i am not greedy by any means. im not interested in selling thousand dollar handbags only to have the feds bust down my door and throw me in jail to get my asshole invaded by "nasty nate" from half baked.
i've subscribed to terapeak, and i've tried my best to research the best non-vero items, but i keep coming to either one of 3 conclusions.
1.) everybody sells vero
2.) best buy employees have banded together to form an organized electronics smuggling ring & they use ebay as a means to sell their plunder.
3.) ebay powersellers are eventually employed by ebay inc. after their 100,000th sell. much in the same way hackers or clever con-men are eventually employed by the gov't as a means to gain more info abt the adversary.
-- i just want a decent profit margin. i know everybody plays their cards close to their chest on here, but i welcome any pm's from any that would be generous to point me in the right direction.

LOL - what you need is something you can buy for say, $100 - sell for $300 - $400 - and make one or two sales a day. Is that a fair assumption? If you find it please PM me full details of what you've found but please don't mention it to anyone else on here.:D

Find an area of business you have an interest in or develop an interest in an area you would like to sell in. Having a passion for what you sell will help you a lot.
I know that kind of info is generic but it is very true.
How about taking up some part time work at a business that operates in an product area you are interested in selling in. You will gain experience on how these business operate and maybe even manage to figure out how they source their products
I did this once with an eBay business haha

Profit margins like that (doubling or tripling your money) are simply not possible selling legitimate items online. Eveyone wants that, but it does not exist.
You can make decent profits if you find a niche product. But many niches are already filled. And by decent, I mean like a 40% - 50% profit, NOT 200% - 300%.
Sometimes the huge profits can be had by buying and selling rare items, but that requires a lot of knowledge and research. And people who do that will tell you that the 40% profit is more common, with the occasional lucky break that nets a 300% profit.
There is no "secret source" of legitimate items that will allow for huge markups. Apple does not have fire sales on iPads. Microsoft does NOT sell Windows 7 Ulitmate wholesale ANYWHERE for $25. Major movie studios do NOT sell newly released DVD's for $3 or box sets for $30. Luxury handbag makers don't sell their $3,000 purses wholesale for $50, or even for $500.
Those things are like the Easter Bunny or the Loch-Ness Monster... Everyone has HEARD of them, but nobody has actually SEEN one.

i am not looking for a hundreds of dollars of profit. actually, i'd be thrilled with $10-15 bucks. $20 bucks would make me lose control of my bowels.

I did this once with an eBay business haha | Thanks for the advice. The only thing I've really held a longstanding interest in is computers / PC repair & music. And on ebay both of those markets are uber saturated.
I already work part-time (@ home customer service). And I'm married w/ kids. Not using that as an excuse, but it obviously consumes alot of my time.
But believe me, I'll keep plugging away at it - and after enough research, much in the same way I found out about the goldmine that is eBay Stealth -I'll find a decent product! |

I'll let you into a little secret. One of my most profitable lines was cotton thread. Another was ex rental DVDs. Another was chicken food (We buy 12 ton every two weeks for our own chickens). It's the little things that CAN bring in the most money. If I net 25% then I'm happy. I have never found the big hit but I have found lots of things that make lots of little bits. A bucket is filled by lots of little drops. Hope that helps |

As an additional, because I don't do it now, we used to have 3 sheep dogs and two house dogs that we fed on dried food. We bought this a ton at a time and sold it on EB a kilo at a time. I used to make between £50 and £100 a week just selling dog food. I don't sell it now but there you have it | The Following User Says Thank You to GrannyT For This Useful Post: | |

From Apple to dog food. Oh, that doesn't seem to tasty! :D
Anyway, good luck Ratrace, keep at it. Do you research and you will eventually find some leads that will hopefully take you to the products you would love to sell.

Firstly I like you realize that big profits is kinda not achievable.
Look around you. What time of year is it in the USA? It's Spring, coming onto
Summer. What happens? Kids have a l o n g vacation. Kids go to camp, go swimming, are in the outdoors. People are in the sun & warm weather.....
nice market there

nice market there | Yes ALIBABA is a great place to find stuff to make a decent profit on. You have to buy in very large bulk qty;s most of the time but if you know what you are buying and have checked out what its sells for then you are good to go.
Also, by looking for hours (which it will take) on that site you will indeed see that our world is make of cheap Asian items. it will floor you as to what you will see. who woulda thunk.

nice market there | I always thought that medicinal market was extremely dangerous because hardly anything is legitimate. Super high profits, but super long jail time.
Still looking and hoping though.
