I sold my computer on eBay with a buy it now for $750 and the buyer is new with Zero feedback but they sent payment and I see it in my paypal... I also emailed the paypal email address and asked for photo ID and they sent it with same name and matching shipping address thats on paypal is on the drivers license.
Is this some elaborate scam or am I safe? The paypal confirmed address is the same thats on his drivers license..
Ever since I started stealth I have been cautious about everything....

If you sent it tracked your covered even if he does a credit card chargeback.
So long as he does not do , item not as described chargeback.
If he does "Item not received", or "unauthorized transaction " charge back, your covered.
Paypal claims are no issue as well if you send tracked. Your only worry should be Credit card chargebacks

Thanks, thats why I was thinking too.
I just emailed him asking if he would pay with a money order.
Hopefully he will agree to it.
I've never sold to a zero feedback buyer and I don't know if I want to take the chances...
It could be a scammer trying to file " not as described" but why would he have his ID and matching address... and he is only 19 years old.
what would you guys do in my shoes? refund and sell to someone else?
he is also "The sender of this payment is Unregistered"

Next time you need to set restrictions on who can bid. Quote:

When in doubt, don't ship

Yeah, if you don't feel good about it, don't ship.
He's likely just going to scam you, turn around and list it.

What am I missing here? You listed an item, it sold, the buyer paid, buyer supplied drivers license, address matches PayPal. WTF is the buyer to do? Put your big boy pants on and ship the item. That's what eBay sellers do.

Does not strike me as a scam, personally if I was the buyer there is no way in hell I would have emailed someone over my ID.
If you have a bad feeling about it though, just refund and sell again, this time making sure you set the requirements for buying.

What JJGold said. The buyer did everything correctly. Ship the item but CYA. I don't understand how you could even ask to send a money order if the buyer already paid? Not to mention that would be a deal breaker for me. I buy on eb for the convenience. If I have to go get a money order I might as well go to the store and buy what I want.

Best of luck on the decision OP

If you are not comfortable just like others have said here just cancel the sale. Personally I don't like to do business like that. You can easily set buyer qualifications. When I used to sell my authentic Jordan sneakers I would not sell to anyone with less than 10 + FB's & NO unpaid item cases what so ever or I cancel the bid or sale then block them.

I agree, I would ship. But MAKE SURE to use SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION. PayPal requires that on higher-priced items.

I personally would ask you to refund my money right away the second you ask me for ID. What right do you have to do that? Thats super suspicious right there by you.
You do what you are suppose to, make sure you receive payment, make sure address is confirmed according to paypal, and ship with signature conformation and insurance to cover your basis.

When I buy something at a store, I understand they may ask to see my driver's license to verify I own the credit card in question. Same thing if I walk into a bank, or if I apply for credit or a job somewhere. But when an individual eBay seller tells me to fax a copy of my driver's license, I would never agree to it.
It is understandable that a seller would want to protect themselves. But, as a buyer I would feel that I also have a reason to worry. Will my driver's license number be used for identity theft? The main reason people like PayPal is that they can keep their private information private.

I guess I totally missed the driver's license thing. Wow what a pair of cojones to ask for that. Clearly not appropriate & not sure but must violate somebody's rules if not the buyer's own sense of right and wrong. Just wrong to my thinking. I would have said worse than refund my money. More like F off AH. Still shaking my head. LOL
