Been asked for ID after registering for MP.....

I have a stealth account which is used intermittently (back up account in case main ones go down), I had a invite to register for MP on it about 4/5 weeks ago so did to see what happens before registering my main accounts.

Logged in today to find the following messages -

Yup I got these messages today too.

Looks like I'll be uploading ID and bank statement.

What does it mean linking your accounts via bank sign-on?

They send you to a third party company, that then prompts you to login using your online banking details with which ever bank you’re with ( for example NatWest or HSBC etc). After you do that you then have to agree to all the terms conditions and part of those terms conditions are that eBay will be up to see all of your account activity across all of your bank account registered with that particular bank

So, could ebay link other stealth accounts you have to bank accounts registered to the same bank? ie 2 stealth accounts, 2 different savings accounts but with the same bank?

In theory yes it does sound like that would be possible in practice I’m not actually sure if they would look through all the bank data that they will have been granted access to

Moral really here is don’t use that option use the bank statement option

PHoto Id will more than likely still be required for accounts over the EU money laundering limit.

It will be required in all cases IMO. Ebay will be using MP to 'clean up' the site - once again IMO

Photo ID will definitely be required but it’s not as if PayPals never asked for Photo ID

I don’t think they’ll do the checks - it wouldn’t make sense, Amazon does it - eBay has always been the Wild West and if they do do such a thing they’ll be like a copy cat amazon rather than a eBay IMO could be wrong

Whether or not it will be legal is a seperate matter but people will always finf a way

There are already several ways but their legality is suspect and the costs will be high

Ebay will live with the fact that some will get through their security screen

The real loosers will be the scammers with their 20+ accounts dealing what Ebay do not want

I think Ebay will be safer for Joe Public and MAY get some credibility back

This is exactly why they are cleaning up the site. That perception of eBay being the wild west. How does that attract more buyers to the platform if people think of eBay as the wild west ?

I agree, but if you state something as a 'fact' on this site , then someone who is always right (but often wrong) with another 'fact' throws a hissy fit that his fact is more of a fact lol.

I personally think it will be mandatory, however PayPal havent ask for ID if you are found on their credit searchs/electoral roll check etc. But even still, if you pass that, then you will have ID, so it matters now.
