I don't have enough feedback from my customers yet to assess entirely this issue.

However, when I was sending direct Googlecheckout invoices no one complained about having to create any sort of account.

One customer wrote to me and said
It was quite easy. I only had to fill out about 1/4 of a page of info, I'm not sure if I made an account but it was so easy that other customers shouldn't mind.

So it doesn't seem like much of an ordeal.

One issue I am pinning down is a customer from Canada claims she keeps getting the error
[my account name] does not ship to this address

I sent her a DIRECT Googlecheckout invoice to see if she can pay that way. If yes, then the issue is with cartmanager not Google. I have received payments from Canadians and Europeans on a different Google account before unless this policy has changed.

Here is what Google emailed me, as far as their take on why purchases through cartmanager are not alllowing Canadian buyers:

I understand that your customer is having difficulty completing a
purchase. How did you request payment from your customer? The XML and HTML APIs automatically limit shipping to the country the account was
created in unless specifically stated otherwise. You could add a
<world-area\> or <allowed-area><country-code> tag into the API buttons to allow for international customers. Or you could send an email invoice
which should have no restrictions on shipping areas. For more information
on international shipping, please take a look at this tutorial:

Google Checkout: Merchant Help Center - How can I implement international shipping and taxes with the HTML API?

I passed this along to cartmanager, waiting.

As written above, send her a direct Googlecheckout invoice to see if that works. If it does, then you will know that the issue is the addition of the country-code tag.

I suspect that cartmanager will come back with some fix, and say that this is another software "bug" they had not yet addressed. I should get a free year for helping them with all this.

Cartmanager:

In order to enable the "world-area" feature of Google with CartManager you must

1) login
2) cart settings
3) step 6 shipping options
4) approved shipping methods
5) approve your shipping methods

Currently you do not have any approved shipping options which is why we have not enabled the "world-area" feature on your cart.

I did that (added a USPS domestic option, USPS international, and UPS Ground, for now), and now:

Thank you for contacting CartManager.

I tried setting up a Canadian address and it worked.
You can now ship anywhere that your approved methods will service
.

Still having issues. This same Canadian buyer claims she still cannot pay me, even with the direct invoice from Googlecheckout! I am re-contacting both Google and cartmanager.

Chris, this buyer sent me screen shots of the errors. Not just trying to get out of paying. Initially there was an error, as I noted earlier in this thread. Now, cartmanager and Google suggested that maybe she needs to clear cache or even cookies on her browser.

2006, I don't know...people are paying me right and left with cartmanager, but sometimes I need to remind them, as noted here

How much does it cost for a monthly fee for Cart Manager service after the trial.

I am about to get to that point soon. I am going to try and negotiate the initiation fee because of all the issues I had. The way I see, I helped them de-bug their software. Hell, they should be paying me.

longisland, the cartmanager system does not really "link" with EBAY, they just get permission to access it to glean the information at the end of the auctions in order to send out invoices. And Google itself does not link to EBAY @ all.

I have several GC accounts, so when my last EBAY account got suspended, which was a while ago, I just started using a different GC for EBAY. But if you want to go through the effort you can just change the email address and the name that the customers see on the invoices and credit card statements, and use the same GC account.
