I just went over and took a look at Bidpay and am thinking of signing up...this whole PP thing has me frustrated.
I know that Bidpay probably has issues as well. I have a couple of questions though...if I register with BP and my EB account gets shut down...I'm sure at some point it will, will I be able to use that same BP account with a new EB account should I have to create a new one down the road? Also, should I provide "real" information to BP when I set up the account? It says I need a credit card in addition to bank account...does a gift card work for this? I have 2 bank accounts each with debit cards, but I'd like to use the same bank account (can't get a debit card with that one) for BP as I have been using for years for PP...will just keep things easier to keep track of in this underground |

Now I just signed into the EB account and I got the same damn message about during a recent examination on the activity of your EB and PP accounts...and wanted to prompt me to go to PP and make it all better. I hit continue and was able to get to my EB with no problems. If I don't get the PP thing cleared up for this account will it alone bring the EB account down with it?
A friend just called me tonight and wants me to put a couple of cars on EB motors for him. Am I better off trying to do it on this account which is now 30 days old with 4 positive FBs or a second account that is 2 weeks old with one FB or just set up a completely new account to do it on? I'm meeting him in an hour and he'd like to have them on EB tonight. I realize if I need to set up a new account I'll heave to wait until morning to get a new GC. |

It is holding right now, but I am afraid you are correct.
However who expects to have to provide proof of shipping on their first 3 or 4items that are all priced under $10? I have had no complaints about non-delivery or any neg FBs That is ridiculous on any level even if I had never offended and these were my first accounts on EB and PP! This leads me to a question... how does anyone pull off a non-verified PP account? I was under the impression that you could set up with a GC so you wouldn't have to provide your "real" info to PP or EB. If you can't get around providing your real info to PP at least and we have concluded on some level that PP and EB share information, what do you do? |

I think the reason they limited you is because you didn't add a bank account. They're not asking for your SSN or copies of ID, bank statements, etc. They just want you to add a bank account, which I don't think is that unreasonable. Sooner or later you'll want to withdraw and then you'll need it anyways.

I MADE A MISTAKE HERE. THEY DO NOT LIMIT IT, IT'S WORSE, THEY CLOSED IT. HERE IS WHAT I GOT ::::NO SPECIFIC REASON WHATSOEVER....
PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening the accounts in our system. We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information to help us provide you with secure service. Until we can collect this information, your access to sensitive account features will be limited. We would like to restore your access as soon as possible, and we apologize for the inconvenience. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why is my account access limited? Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s): Sep. 28, 2007: In accordance with PayPal's User Agreement and Acceptable Use Policy, we have closed your account. Your funds may be held for 180 days from the date of your last transaction. After 180 days, you will be able to access your funds by requesting an online bank transfer or, if applicable, a check from PayPal. Please update your address or bank information as we cannot be held responsible for checks issued to an incorrect address. We do ask that you please remove reference(s) to PayPal from your site. After 180 days you can request a check or do a bank transfer. Assuming the address is good or you put a bank account before they limited your account. If you don't they will happily hold your money until you do.
I highly recommend adding a bank account before accepting any payments to avoid a total lose. During the 180 day wait. While you account is limited you are more likely to lose disputes and you total $$$ will go down. |

It depends. If you provide them with all the info they require, they will ususally lift your limit within a week.
If you can't, then 180 day wait it is. |

I just got me money from one of those accounts, Don't know if it matters, but it was like an 8 year old account I had from when they first started, the had limited me a few times over the years, but I always made up the info they wanted and had it lifted. The third time they limited and did not ask for anything, just sent me that we have decide to longer do business with you over security concerns BS. So about 180 days later, a little less actually, I get an email saying your funds are now eligible for withdrawal. You could have them send you a check or bank withdraw. didn't want to take a chance with the check because it was in business name and the old bank account I had closed down. So i just added a new bank account and withdrew to it, Funny thing is they sent those 2 small deposits to verify but sent the big balance also. So i finally got the money, but never verified so I can try and use that bank on another account.

So, really, there isn't actually ANYTHING to worry about when ebay freeze accounts (other than the 180 days wait...). I was concerned that they would only write a cheque out to the account holder, in most of our cases, a fake name.
But if you are allowed to add a bank account for them to withdraw to, that's not so bad. |

I even went ahead and asked them about the 180 day hold and if the info. I read is true. They personally explained this is a rare situation for most account holders. They do this only when they basically smell a rat with the info. that is faxed and fear their customers will start doing chargebacks so they keep your money to cover their a** and not lose funds of their own--good ole' paypal protection. They also told me, those accounts that get held 180 days, if they do end up releasing them, it's not too long before they freeze them up again--they know they're not legit and are determined to bust balls until they can prove it.
Food for thought. Last edited by Modee; 04-16-2008 at 11:44 AM. |

I got a check after 180 days too on a permanently limited PP account. One thing - they will mail the check to whatever address you request. You just have to add a new address, and then they will mail it right out. You can add an address that is already on a different PP account of yours!
And, as soon as the system confirms that they are mailing a check (I mean, within minutes), you can go ahead and delete that address right off. One thing - once your PP is permanently limited they will not let you delete EMAIL addresses from your profile. |

no. you just get the cheque, then go register for a business name under that name, open a bank account under that name, and cash it. then close everything and move on. This of course is only worthwhile if you have more than a few hundred dollars coming in.
Waiiitt.. they also let you deposit it into a bank account.. so no, using fake name is still fine with that. my brothers account was suspended for 180 days, and after 180 he added a new bank account, verified with the 2 deposits and then withdrew the money that way. so its all good.

Just had this scenario this week, they point blank refused to issue a Cheque, and they give 2 options.. 1: Bank Transfer (They charge $40 for the pleasure) or 2: Just add a new real bank account and withdraw, i would presume that would flag that bank account as useless, so make sure it's not one you wish to use in the future.

HI:
Funny Story.. My Mom had her (well mine in her name)-- Paypal acct suspended indef. in the summer. It had like less than $200 in it.. --since then, no chargebacks, but Paypal indirect debits.. --She's emailed them (I did ).. about 20 times, asking what is the $23 charge for?, what is the $41 charge for? --never an answer.. -- The 180 days would have been up this month.. --She gets a call from a collection agency ,NCO last week, saying she owes paypal $6... ---They drained the acct to nothing, the guy that called her was very rude. -- Ive read on other boards where theyre charging a "storage fee"..dont know if its true or fabricated? But, they sure went thorough her acct .... AGAIN.. TRYING to do the right thing...guess it doesnt work with these folks.. I guess I should have went through all that .."refunding buyers" routine... Lesson again.. )
