Right, unless you send them the docs to prove they're under age, eBay doesn't know.

Incorrect. EBAY doesn't know. PayPal does know, and does care, and does find out when it runs credit on the account holder, which it always does eventually.

If the account holder is under age or deceased, the PayPal account will be permanently limited.

Yea, guys:
I think youre confused. Modee and Aspkin is correct.

EBAY: doesnt run the ssn
PAYPAL: does, at one time or another.
AND--theres no way to get around the ssn check...

Plus PayPal runs more than a social security check, they also run credit after they get the social, and at that point the dob of the account holder is revealed.

I think greg is answering from a UK perspective since he wouldnt have to submit a SS number. (this is why its good to put flags up i suppose)

Not really, as UK PayPal has other ways to determine who the account holder is.

Default EIN verification

When Ebay verifies your EIN with a business account. Do they see everything or just the name that the business it is connected to?

PayPal utilizes your social security # or EIN in two stages. First, to verify the name or business entity. But eventually, to run personal or business credit, at which point they see what you refer to as "everything."

Now, if you are a "ghost" (person with no credit) or a new company (that has no credit), or even an established company that has little credit, then they will learn very little. But in close to 100% of cases where you supply an EIN they come right back and request a SS # as well anyway. So if there is something to be found out about you, PayPal will dig it all up eventually.

Is it in the user agreement or terms and conditions that PayPal is allowed to run a credit check?

Of course it is - what many of you don't realize is that PayPal is a merchant account. It's just because PayPal lets you get in the door without the full-on checks that most do up front that lulls people into thinking PayPal is some kind of right. It isn't - it's a privilege for the creditworthy.

Default Can anyone tell me about EIN?

THey want my EIN but of course I am using a fictitious name. What to do. I am still able to withdraw funds in the meantime but I am sure the you know what is about to hit the fan. If I provide them with the EIN, do they look up all the info of just see that the EIN matches my business name?

Hey tiredofebay

What ever happened with paypal requesting your EIN number? Did you pass through it with just the EIN or do they want more?
