First of all Happy mothers days, Me and the girls went out last night and tied one on. It was one of those nights that you come home and turn on the t.v. and all that is on is infomercials. Anyways, I saw something cool last night. The Magic Jack. It is a little box thing you put on the computer then put the phone line on it. It is for free phone calls but you get a phone number with it and it is only $19 or free month trial. That is as cheap as one of those pre-paid phones. Maybe a good way to take in ebay phone calls

After reading a little about it, it seems this product will work for some but not others. If you get it you basically have to hope it works for you.

I read about this magicjack thing for like 3 hours yesterday. They say they will give you a different area code aside from your own cities. One thing is that you have to have your computer on all the time for it to work. I really dont know if having your computer on for a long time without turning it off is bad, does anybody have their computer on 24/7?

In our control room, we have x3 PCs on 24/7. These are used to do reports, surf etc. My boss looks after them. Never have problems except when I spill tea over the keyboards. That's user error, however. LOL.

Yes- we have 7 pcs in the house--all of them on 24/7--all plugged into modems, routers, etc..on line always---I used to think that way also--Like when the old tvs had tubes--
Your grandmom used to tell you--turn the tv off so the tube wont burn--nowadays with kids, the tvs run constantly-- As for pcs--I believe the newer ones do not even get that burn in anymore in the monitor..

The server that runs this site is located in a datacenter in which there are thousands of other servers running at the same time 24/7 non stop. As long as your computer is kept cool and well ventilated, it can run 24/7 without an issue. Oh but make sure you turn monitors off if you're not using them or have a good screen saver up, monitors if left on for long periods of time without a screen saver can burn out. I've seen several go.

I have 2 magic jacks they work great they have call forwarding and voice mail your computer does not have to be on for the voice mail to pickup also you can forward all your calls and you can have any area code you want you can also change the area code one time for free it is a great product and I think it would be a great phone for ebay and it's cheap.

I'm assuming the call quality on this thing is about as good as the early days of free internet calls. I once had a business client call me from Korea on one of those lines, and after all the echoing and Hello? Hello? You There?s, he gave up and picked up a regular phone.
One way to analyze any new too-good-to-be-true product is to enter its name in quotes alongside the term "scam" and Google it. MagicJack - Magic Jack Scam Anyway, I thought this thread was going to be about The Who song, so I was disappointed from the getgo. But they couldn't stop Jack, 'or the waters lapping, And they couldn't prevent Jack from being happy.

Magic jacks works great because it gives you access to calls with call forwarding and when ebay called me when i forwarded my calls to my cell phone ..IT WORKED
so far as quality it is not that great but it works for what it is needed for and you dont have to pay amonthly bill

I have been using MagicJack and I am pretty happy with it. The call quality is really good. Comparable to a typical landline, and definitely better than a cellphone.
Here's something I noticed: If you plug the magicJack drictly into the computer USB port, it works great. If you plug it into the included extension usb cord, the quality deteriorates. That's my only minor complaint about the thing. |
