Default What Will Happen! Think About It!

If ebay decide to add either passports or driving licenses or even national insurance number indentification, there would be no way arounf that.

I understand that not everyone will have a d. license or a passport but i'm sure everyone who is 18+ has a national insurance number.

Also not long ago the government were on about releasing a national I.D unique to everyone. This would make it probably impossible to create more than 1 account.
So before this happens, why not get as many accounts together AS YOU CAN!

That would be a very good reason to start making new accounts. I will have to get on that. Usually ebay warns us of this stuff before it happens though.

If ebay/paypal added passports or driver's licences it would be game over for multiple accounts. They could ask for your passport number and this can be check in seconds on the passport office site to see if the information matches. Even if youve got 500 accounts, whats stopping paypal adding passport verification to existing accounts?

On the other hand, to some extent EBAY wants multiple accounts, to maintain the appearance of forward business development.

Same way AOL would include everyone who signed up for a free 30 day trial in their financial statements, as booked paid members.

These membership based internet sites want to do everything possible to increase their ranks, or at least make it appear that their ranks are rising.

They probably wont add the passport/drivers license thing because not everyone has one.

BUT a new uk i.d will soon be issued so id be prepared for that.

Im guessing it's like u.s ssn?

True, for now, but there are plenty of other sites where you are required to send copies of passport or driver's licences if you are sending or receiving money . I dont think its beyond the realms of possibility that PayPal would start doing the same (or be forced to!) especially if the amount of news about counterfeit goods on ebay/ online in general carries on. Obviously its not in their interest- stock price, but legally its got to happen sooner or later.
I wouldnt worry about our ID cards- we are in the UK! our gvt couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery, it will take them years to sort that out
