Has anyone used a Skype phone number? They are like $6/month.

Seems convenient since it will ring on your phone and you can have 5 phone numbers on one phone. Instead of having 5 cheap pre paid phones.

Yes I've used skype but there are easier VOIP options if you check your apple/play store for apps

Most VOIP services allow for two things now:
1)Making and receiving phone calls
2)sending and receiving text messages

The problem is when you want to setup 2 factor authentication or initially create the account. A lot of companies send something called a short code for account verification. Short codes are designed to work with GSM/CDMA networks only. This means no Skype, no virtual number for account creation on Amazon.

I use VOIP for two step, the provider I use seems to go through fine.

I use Amazon voice and it works fine. But as i login everyday on the same browser, i no longer need a code.

You're right. I too have used AMAZON VOICE and its probably the best VOIP SERVICE EVER.
