Newbie question.. About ghost account
 

Compute instance server... A viable alternative to vm ware or virtual box? Like Google cloud server or Amazon web hosting servers etc.... Any reason it wouldn't work in particular?

It will work but I don't recommend running an Amazon account off of an AWS server.

Awesome thanks... Aws servers would (by necessity) be my last choice lol. I only mentioned them as they're well known as a point of reference. The Google cloud with $300 free credit is best I think.

I was just looking and it would be something like $.08/hr for an East Cost USA Azure VM.

I'm not crazy about having to pay for VM access but I guess since it also takes care of your IP, it might be worth it. I'd have to do the math and figure which route would be cheaper over time.

1hr a day x 365 = $29.20

Just a heads up... Google gives a $300 credit at sign up (using a Gmail account) and it last for 365 days. I'm currently on my 3rd and have yet to pay a cent for any of them... Something to keep in mind.

I don't have any use for cloud services, but that's nice to know. Any idea what their going rate is after your free trial? What kind of IP do you get?

Not sure about ip but... For my purposes the key is being able to "pause" the server when not in use. As opposed to many companies where you keed to "stop" the server. Meaning you can leave the server with windows open and it starts from there as opposed to restarting with an essentially new instance every time. At any rate, pricing is competitive and on the lower side compared to other companies I've used. Obviously depending on how many cores you need it goes up as do all others but, Google has a wide range and they're pretty easy to get started once you know how lol.

Careful with services that are billed by the hour, or services that are too cheap.

Those will often times be abused for the very thing you are thinking about using them for
