Amazon FBA - Some Questions

Amazon FBA - thinking of giving it a go due to wanting to get away from Ebay

What are the pro's and con's of Amazon FBA?

What if a competitor filed a malicious report on Amazon against you for selling the same product claiming they own the rights to that product - when its not true (similar to Ebay) - how do you deal with that and stop it from happening - obviously many people sell the same items on Amazon

If they do own the rights, nothing you can do. If they don't, they can't do it.

Amazon is a different animal than ebay... lots of trial and error.

Lots of posts to read about on the forum - hopefully you're not selling anything too risky

For example I sell my own private label but another seller is selling same item with their own private label or without - can that seller file a malicious report to get my item taken off or suspend my account?
Obviously they will be some sellers out there who don’t like competition and want to have the market to themselves

Re: Amazon FBA - Some Questions

No just doing product research at moment, Amazon account not opened up yet.
On Amazon can you open an account if someone else at the same address got their account suspended or closed down?

My sister got her account closed down for too many returns she had a buyer account just for buying, can this cause me problems for when I open my Amazon seller account?

Lucy, Hello!

Don’t expect your own private label to withstand an attack from a rival.

This is similar to AMZN issues.

Of course you can not use an address where there is a suspended user. AMZN are savage about this. The account must be brand spanking new. Suspended buyers account still count against using the address.

Lucy, I suggest reading here. https://www.aspkin.com/forums/amazon/

Read and you will see how others fight AMZN.

Re: Amazon FBA - Some Questions

Hello GreenBean!!

I’m moving across to Amazon now at this stage i’m trying to read up and watch YouTube videos and reading the forum to get a basic understanding on how to do Amazon FBA.

I clicked on the links you provide but they just point to the forum?

Private Label wouldn’t that give you more protection against a rival trying to file a malicious claim to take your Amazon account down? - because the rival would not have your private label - you could name your private label the same name as your Amazon name, which they rival doesn’t have.

Obviously rivals will attack for fear that a new seller is on the scene taking away business. The rival would have to prove they own the private label I’m selling. Private differentiates you from other sellers and is your unique selling point.

I will ask my sister about her Amazon account if she’s suspended or they closed it down - if this is the case, then I’d assume I would need an accessible address to which the AVS is linked to?

If you read that open forum, there is info there from account creation, FBA. etc.

New sellers should not just walk into AMZN.

Preparation works. A lot of hard work

Re: Amazon FBA - Some Questions

Totally agree with you, I’m trying to prepare and ask questions on here to gain knowledge on Amazon before trying to open Amazon FBA because i cant risk that account from being suspended or going down.

GreenBean, my sister told me her original Amazon account got closed because she was making too many returns but since then she’s opened up more accounts some which have also been shut down for making too many returns.

I guess this will put my own Amazon FBA at risk if it’s the same address? How about making a slight variation on the address like putting Flat 1 before the address? Will this work?

I don’t want to go stealth if I don’t need too because I’ve never had an amazon account before but if I have to because of my sisters account then I don’t want my Amazon FBA going down because that will be my livelihood

Re: Amazon FBA - Some Questions

For the initial question I would say:
Amazon takes more time to learn and prepare, but you can build a solid business with it. The entry point for eBay is much lower so there is more competition. I recommend learning more for amazon before you start. And also, the risk on Amazon is more, because making fba requires money upfront. However, you can sell your business after while in the other situation, nobody will buy an eBay account for so much money as an amazon business.
