is there a way to list on there? i'm not seeing the "sell your item here" button on those categories but i'm seeing "just launched" sellers...do these categories have to be pre-approved?

Some new pre-approved sellers as just launched might be popular known stores or retailers testing the waters at amazon.

I've never sought pre-approval from Amazon. I would imagine it simply involves asking them. I would be prepared to answer several questions, including what you plan to sell and what the source of your merchandise is.

They ask for more than that to approve you in the approved seller's categories. You need an established seller account to start with. It's no good just calling yourself WalMart and saying "Yeah I own WalMart". Their review to approve you for the restricted categories is more in depth than that because you will notice that the categories they do have restricted pose a potential hazard. They actually require some substantiation.

yes so you dont cut your face off with china gillettes etc......

MadSam 11-23-2010 01:28 PM

Exactly. Tools and some electronics categories are also restricted. Imagine the mayhem if they weren't...

With that statement you are incorrect.
A brand new Amazon account can be approved if done correctly.
I did it before when I set up a business I was working for.
It took about 2 weeks to a month to get all the approvals.
I had a brand new account approved for the restricted clothing category along with a SKU waiver, which was the hardest thing to get.

MadSam 11-23-2010 04:11 PM

^^^^^^^^^ I didn't mean that you can't get approval on a brand new seller's account.

By an established seller account I was talking about one that has already been registered and is able to list items for sale, not necessarily one with a sales history, feedback, etc. I meant that you don't get pre-approved like others were stating above, as if getting pre-approved for a credit card.

I have also had accounts approved in restricted categories that have had no feedback or sales history and it is done by the Merchant Review team.

Depending on the restricted category you are applying for approval they can even ask for a Tax Resale Certificate.
