Default Amazon Account Review...can anyone help explain?

Was waiting another day or 2 to make a transfer of funds ($1200 in there with $800 available) and got home this noon and was informed that my account is under review...and just when is was really starting to gear up...about $3000 in sales a month after 4 years selling.
I had one item that the PO lost, that I had an A-Z claim on that I promptly refunded and another that was damaged and even though I sent it insured with all of the info right on the label the buyer did not make a claim on the insurance, he too filed an A-Z claim.(like it was my responsibility to file the claim when he was in possession of the item)
Feedback score is in the mid 90's because one of those buyers left a negative. I have sold over 300 items since the account opened in 2007, but only 50 people have left feedback...what a joke. Any moron could figure out that if there was a problem a buyer would leave bad feedback, but rarely do when the transaction just goes along normally.

So I just got done sending out 50 feedback requests...not knowing if that will make a difference in the review process or not, but if even hlf of them bother to respond it should push my rating up to 98 or maybe even higher.

I went to the Customer Metrics page and the only one that is in yellow is the defect rate...and according to Amazon, will not generally result in the suspension of your selling account, provided you are actively working to improve your customers' satisfaction.

So is this "review" action generally something that is done to make you aware that one of your performance scores is borderline and if you don't do something about it that your account will be shut down? One bad feedback if your total is around 50 can drop you down a few points, but yet I see people with scores in the low 90's that have over 1000 total feedback...what gives? Their scores are lower than mine and with 20 times the total feedbacks which should mean more than 20 times as many po'ed customers...so why are they still able to keep selling?

I should add...
Something similar happened right before Thanksgiving in that I got a hold of a bunch of items for around $25 and sold like 20 of them in one day. So I can see what Amazon must think...here's a guy that has 50 feedbacks in 4 years and then he sells 20 items in a single day. All they did then was to hold payments for 7 days after the order which was not a big deal to me and after a couple of weeks, everything was back to normal (except that those 2 A-Z claims came in)
Also, I had one customer return an item for $200 because it was a gift for her husband and he didn't want it...She asked if she could return and I said yes, so when it arrived I issued a refund. Another instance the buyer accidentally ordered 2 items and asked what to do so I refunded him and he just re-ordered again , but only 1 the second time...Would either of these since they show as refunds reflect negatively on me?

I guess the question is does this necessarily spell doom for this account? Sad thing is that because of the 2 A-Z's that I had I was starting to sell more items in the $10-20 range and 25-50 a week to dilute the effect of the A-Z claims.

Sorry for getting a little wordy
Any insights would be greatly appreciated

It sounds like you hit a velocity limit.

If you do not improve a yellow mark, you will be suspended eventually. Amazon's wording is very deceptive. You must get all metrics to green as soon as possible. You have two or three months at best, maybe less!

The trouble is that if you try to sell a lot of items that you can get out right away to dilute the one or two bad ratings you received then they hit you with the velocity limit

Go look at the Amazon books section. Get some popular fiction used books from a bookstore. Sell them and ship first class or priority. You WILL get some positive feedback like this. I sold about 4-5 books and got two glowing positives. John Grisham, Michael Connelly are good choices. Buy the ones that are highest in sales rank, and list them for a penny.

Your feedback rating according to your numbers is 16% that's actually pretty good though Amazon prefers 20%

To make for a higher feedback rating, you would stop selling and try to get feedback to bring it up. But that might mess your customer metrics up since you have yellow in the section where the order defect rate is. Depending upon how many orders you have and the number defect, it might clear itself up but only you can judge that by figuring it out. I can't remember offhand what the allowable order defect rate is. It wouldn't surprise me if this account turned out just fine

Hope you're right.
Sent out 50 requests yesterday. I had 2 leave feedback and two answer my request saying how pleased they were but didn't leave feedback...thought I was just looking for reassurance. I asked since they were happy could they please leave feedback...they wrote back saying they couldn't find the link to do so.
If Amazon places such importance on your score, why must they make it so difficult to leave it?

Lol, what morons. It's Amazon.com/feedback. You'd think that'd be simple enough. I did have one buyer who also told me how pleased he was, going up to emailing me what seemed like feedback, but never actually posting it on Amazon. Go figure.

Well, it isn't as easy as ebay, but still not rocket science.
I'll wait a few more days and the ones that did not respond I will ask again and send them the link

I always wondered if you pestered buyers too much for feedback, if the idiots would be tempted to leave a bad feedback. Be careful.

I've read a few negatives that mention being hounded for feedback.
That's why I won't email them for feedback though I did when I was on review at Amazons suggestion
I only write it on the receipt, that if they could leave me feedback it would be greatly appreciated. I am generally between 24-25% feedback that way

I wish I would have kept a copy of this one guy, he left his Amazon seller a greenie \with this hella funny rant about how he uses Amazon instead of Ebay to avoid leaving feedback upon every order. How if there is a problem he will let the Seller know. He went on and on....Ended it with something like "I have a life ya know!" My family got a kick out of that one

Funny, because the last batch of orders that sent out last week I did jot a note on the invoices.
As of last check at least 1 out of 10 (IOW 5 of the 50) have responded and left feedback.
It doesn't sound like much but to get 5 in 2 days when I've only gotten 50 in 4 years is encouraging.

Im back on Amazon!!!!

Had an account review due to lack of feedback, it took me 2 hours to get all the information right.

Here is what i did:
1) make a table on word
2) List Order ID,Tracking,Carrier,Delivered Y/N And Date of Delivered.

8 hours later the put my account back on track, however, now they will have a 7 day holding period after item sales. Now i will be getting paid every 2 weeks instead of every week lol.

Just got one more glowing 5 star feedback from a penny book sale. It really does work. I've had almost 2 grand go thru this account in a month and still no review either.

Anyone sell penny CDs? I just got ahold of quite a few CDs that didn't cost me a thing and I'm wondering if these would work too? I was even considering giving a guarantee that if there is a problem with them the buyer can keep them and still get a full refund. I have about 50-75, either newer or classic titles...any ideas?

Also, I was thinking of using these as a way to quick start a new account. How many of these am I safe to list out of the gate?

I do not recommend CD's. Someone is invariably going to complain about unauthorized sales, ⊗⊗⊗⊗ media, scratched discs, whatever. Sell books.

So what did you do with this list? You sent the document to Amazon? Is there an email address / fax number for this kind of stuff?
I got limited too for not enough feedback and I would gladly try your method.
Thanks!
