Default In need of some venting....

I consider myself pretty good at swallowing my pride, taking care of asshole customers at all costs and moving on to the next one.

I understand I will have some losses because of bad transactions and greedy buyers but this guy really got to me.

I remained as "professional" as possible throughout the email.

The loss I am taking on this sucks, but what really gets me going is the nerve of some people.

Oh well, deep breath and move on.

Below is our email convo... so frustrating

__________________________________________________ _______

******,

I purchased a NEW ****** from you:

It is anything but new. Very used. I overpaid this by $159 It didn't include a ***** cable either which ***** includes with their ******. I purchased one at $33. You can put $192 on my account by noon today (PST) or I will report this to Amazon.

Dale

Dale,

Thank you for your purchase.

We sell a large mixed of new, used, and display models. I can assure you that when an item is marked as new, it should be new and I apologize for that.

Because of the high volume of sales and the amount of similar products, it is possible that yours was mixed with a display or used item.

Can you please give me some information on the condition? Did it show signs of use? Were the accessories in tie wraps?

I can get you a ***** in good used condition for a very good price - Around $160USD. However, this will not come with any kind of warranty like our new and display model items.

If you want to exchange it for a 100% brand new item, that can be done. Or I can provide you a full refund if you want to return.

Again, sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused We try really hard to do good business but sometimes mistake do happen.

I look forward to your response.

Adam

I see that you know how the Amazon "game" works and are playing it very well. I have served over 1000 satisfied customers and want to make sure you are one of them so it looks as if I have no choice.

I will take an $92 loss and submit your refund after this email.

Thanks for your purchase.

Adam

Be sure it is $192.

I feel like it's the season for such type of buyers for me.

There's always that ONE extremist that will rile up your day.
Like 2 days ago I got a jerk who bought a "Like New" item from me.
Then complaint that it's not like new since it's not sealed and that it's not original.
The goods is $22 btw and I even included the receipt in the box.

Left me a neg, opened disputes and said he mailed it to IC3 . I didn't bother responding to him. He can blow all the smoke he wants.

The money loss sucks but the fear of suspension is my main concern. Again, the amount of power these buyers have is crazy,.

I could be my own charity with the amount of money I throw at customers.

I hear you. Everyday we have to learn to be mentally tougher to be able to tackle buyer's craziness right?

You probably want to have some backup accounts handy right now, just in case.
Next time, figure out a way to refund buyers without going through AZ system... AZ doesn't like sellers refunding buyers too often and they do suspend people doing it.

So I hope 99.9% of your other transactions have been successful.

SOME SYMPATHY FROM AMAZON!?!?

Just got this email after explaining the situation to Amazon

Greetings from Amazon Services,

I have reviewed your message to us and understand that a buyer black-mailed you into taking a large loss on order ID 002-********-******.

Please note that return requests should not be handled like that despite of what the buyer is saying he will do if you do not do what he wants you to. If there is a buyer who is threatening you or not, you should always follow the same procedure and contact Amazon to report the buyer. This is not acceptable under any circumstance because we always expect buyers and sellers on our site to abide by a professional standard.

You can bring this to the attention of the appropriate department within Amazon.com for investigation. This team may be contacting you to request more details. You may also submit additional information about the situation at the following URL:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/reports/contact-us
Our policy prohibiting inappropriate contact is clearly stated in the Amazon.com Community Rules:

"Contact between parties must be courteous and limited to transaction details. Facilitating inappropriate or unsolicited contact is a violation of our Community Rules."

They will investigate this situation as soon as possible, and take appropriate action. For account privacy reasons, we cannot disclose the outcome of any investigation we may perform.

I hope this information will be able to assist you. We are always here to help out whenever need be.

Adam... a buyer can leave a negative anytime he wants despite everything else done for him.

Hmm... I can't pitch in about AZ's email to you. No experience on that end.
I think the best person to ask for that is probably Jeffweico and Newtoosie, since I think they are the resident AZ fanpeople.

Yep, totally sucks. Surprised at Amazon's reasonable-sounding reply, but like SaiJin says, don't expect them to do anything about it.

I am lost. why would you be concerned about suspension with a Customer who is attempting to gain more than the purchase and shipping price, essentially extorting you? I am sure some have had their experiences with Amazon Reps but I've had great Amazon Reps, they are alot of fun and very helpful.

He is demeaning and threatening you! I love the fact you called him on being a professional knowing how to play the Amazon game, that may save you from refunding him. I wouldn't refund him by the way, he's full of crap and you know it by the integrity he has shown. At least until he grovels back to me with already leaving good feedback and an apology, forget it

Maybe Tell Amazon to give you the money back, you made a mistake groveling to a professional con artist. You are concerned he is so professional he has already scammed other sellers, he is a profesisonal thief.
Sorry but this is really bad, I've never been treated this way even when I had a stalker and one professional scammer, neither talked like that

For what it is worth, a penny maybe, this is what what I would do...

"With the integrity you've shown so far, there is no reason to believe you won't follow thru with your threats to leave me bad feedback for not refunding you more than you purchase price and shipping and whatever you can do to hurt me. Barking at me, threatening me, then attempting to gain far more than the price of the item well...sorry but this is for Amazon to handle. I normally just refund customers but they normally do not demean me, then try to get more money from me. Amazon has policies set in place for a reason, and somehow I will guess you violating so many in one shot is not going to be looked upon kindly. And frankly the main reason is... you are way too much for me!

Then....I bet he will promise to leave good feedback , you then reply I'll believe that gesture of integrity when I see it.

Then go from there....hopefully this is how it will play out, or somehow it will end positively.

I give lots of money away too but that has been when I've made a mistake, which was a few times so far. Swapping customer orders then paying them money to swap them back.

I would absolutely NEVER pay anyone off more than what they paid if it was not my doing and they spoke like that. You know they are lying, threatening, thieves forget it.
Let him rot in.....

What he purchased was brand new and he paid $369 for it. He claimed it was used and wanted a $191 refund by noon today or else.

So.... instead of risking a negative feedback or A-Z claim, which could lead to suspension, I just gave him the money.

It was not until after that I reported him to Amazon.

$191 is still a small price to pay for being able to STAY selling on amazon.

Well if its any consolation, you can still write the loss off on your taxes at the end of the year.

Any buyer who is trying to abuse amazon customers loyalty will be suspended, amazon do block such customers. I wouldn't refund a penny without amazon resolution. He knows how to play amazon game.. well, ok, just let him know he doesn't know enough about it and drop a professional email to him saying that you have already informed amazon about his fraud activity, i guess he would be suprised

I am pretty sure that may result in bad feedback if he tells the Buyer this but I am with you thinking Amazon will take action, even if it is just a warning.

I think you probably should have been a little stand-up-for-yourself at the beginning; it will be a miracle if they do anything about it now. Certainly not the Amazon I know (and "love").

Keep in mind, I have several stealth accounts sitting idle, but this is my main account with 200+ feedback and boomin sales, so I treasure it.

I understand what your saying but I just recieved a negative feedback a few weeks ago and another would put my ODR above 2%

This guy was threatening to leave negative and file a claim. The fear of suspension encourage me to meet his 12 noon demands.

The risk was - don't pay the guy, report him to Amazon, then amazon sides with him. This would probably lead to a suspension and was not a risk I was willing to take.

The route I took enabled me to continue to sell on Amazon which I would have paid much for than $192 for.

Well, you know the value of your investment and you are being very smart about it.
Not many people can sacrifice what you did, for the better and bigger picture in the future.

So pat yourself on the shoulders, be happy about it and I think enough venting in the thread. =)
