Turn and Burn Tatics

Hey guys I was just wondering how many people on this forum actually use the turn and burn strategy and how effective they found it.

How much do y'all usually make before getting burnt and what is the strategy you use to get the most out of each account.

Thanks guys, just thought it would be an interesting discussion.

rsot 04-05-2011 01:35 PM

Not that new of a discussion. Lot of people use it. Effective depends on what you sell. There is no definite figure to "how much you make".

For example, I initially started selling not intending to turn and burn since I don't have the inventory to do so (my market is kind of a niche).

Turn and Burn?, what's that then?

Imakemoney 04-07-2011 11:31 AM

I think he means makin a quick buck/pound is a short amount of time as much as he can until suspension.

It depends on what your selling for example I would be very suprised if you could do this with vero items.

its alot harder to do this now than it used to be though.

Also consider what happens if you run out of bank accouts to use with ebay/amazon/paypal.

Aha it was called something else in ghost.

I was thinking about this, i was going to create a few accounts on amz.de and blitz out the sales, for nice profit which I know i can, then when it comes to asking them to disburse after 90 days, give the same bank account for all amz accounts. I would imagine that would be risky though, they might sell 'well you broke the rules, we're keeping your dough'

Anyone ever asked them to send a cheque?!

rsot 04-07-2011 11:49 AM

From what I have seen, Amazon does not send cheques...

sax4 04-07-2011 12:07 PM

Could always disburse into friends/family accounts so as to not burn too many bank accounts

giggidy123 04-07-2011 02:01 PM

Was thinking about doing the "turn and burn" method since I have alot of inventory and my ebay accounts are to knew do much much action on. If you did this method should you go ahead and register your sellers account so the 14 day waiting period will start when you do that or does it not start till you actually sell an item?

sax4 04-07-2011 02:06 PM

Can't remember whether it's 14 days from when you register or 14 from when you add your bank details.

Probably best to do this on established accounts where you have higher velocity limits, if you do this on a new account where the velocity limit for the first month is rumoured to be about $275, then is it worth it?

giggidy123 04-07-2011 02:15 PM

I have an account that has been a buyer account for over 3 years, just turned it into a sellers account over a month ago. Sold just under 700 within that month and never had any problems or any feedback since you have to beg for feedback and still don't get it. Will my velocity limit go up without a review?

No. You better beg for feedback if you want to keep selling $700+

giggidy123 04-07-2011 02:27 PM

Trust me I beg.

sax4 04-07-2011 02:28 PM

I think it goes up a notch every month, but getting as much feedback as possible is good

giggidy123 04-07-2011 02:44 PM

So what would happen if I have a review and have 0 positive and 0 negative feedback? I am sure they can see through their message system that I have contacted the buyers and kindly asked for feedback from them.
Also in these reviews do they ever ask where you get your stuff from or to fax in receipts?

sax4 04-07-2011 03:15 PM

Doesn't matter if you emailed them, that's not proof of anything.
Yes in reviews they will ask for suppliers, not sure about receipts, and also to give them a short business plan for the future.

Come to think of it your best option is to create .com, .de, .ca, .co.uk., .fr, .jp accounts because you then have 6 amaz accounts for one set of information.

I'm not sure if you get put under review in one country, you will be put under review in all.

rsot 04-07-2011 03:24 PM

Review can go either way. Yes they can ask for where you get your stuff.

Oh, yeah it is difficult to get feedback on Amazon. Here's what I do

I usually write a note on their receipt. Says something like

Hi "insert name"

Thanks so much for your order. Please let me know if any issues arise and I'll take care of it. Here is your tracking number/confirmation number"If you are able to leave me feedback, I'd greatly appreciate it. It allows me to continue selling on Amazon.
thanks again, hope you have a great week~ :)

You can write an arrow from the words to the instructions on how to leave feedback, basically the blue ink you see on the page

Also send them a confirmation each time you mail their item because Amazons system is so frustrating and confusing. If you upgrade their order, let them know Because Amazon will not. Ensure when you let them know you choose "Additional Information" not order information as it is a policy violation to repeat sending them order info. They like it when you pay more to send it expedited, or if it is already expedited (First class) and you didn't pay more then you may add in this sentence to the bolded one above.

"Your order lists standard mail but it will be arriving sooner as I sent it Expedited"

Just some ideas for what it's worth.....

Thebigspud 04-07-2011 07:34 PM

Oh wow I had given up on this thread.

Just to clarify I know that slow is the best way, I was just curious to see who had used this tactic and what kind of results they had had with it.

Also from what I understand, you don't add your bank account until you are suspended, which means you don't burn through all your bank accounts. You can just keep using the same one cause they let you add any bank account after you are suspended. Wither it has been used before or not.

Thanks for responding to my thread! :hail:

Haven't tried myself, but perhaps when it comes to giving them your bank details they will check and pay not pay?

Sharry 04-08-2011 08:03 AM

in ghost this method is called `the run and gun` method by askpin...i tried this method already and so far it is working for me I made £2500 in two days and within 48 hours Amazon put a review on my account in next 24 hours of review i made another £1000 and at that point they suspended my account and put a 90 day hold 40 days are gone and 50 days to go but i givin them a new bank account which i never used before cause i never wanted to take a chance with my money they asked for a business plan ,source of inventry i sent them all of this and now my account is permanently suspended but i will let you know guys when i get my money ...
