Do Internet dongles have Mac addresses? And if so, how do you go about changing them? Thanks

yes I have the same question. Any network card has a MAC address... so in your laptop if you connect thru wired connection you have different MAC then if you connect thru WIFI is it correct?
When I open CMD and type ipconfig/all it lists my IP and MACs. MACs are different for ethernet and wireless cards.. so USB is basically another network card that should have different MAC...
Can anyone please advise as buying dongles might be quite an investment ?

ANY kind of network interfacing device have a MAC address, whether if it is a LAN card, WiFi card, 3G card, and doesn't matter if it uses USB or other interfaces such as PCI.

Mac addresses can be changed/spoofed easily. You can even spoof the MAC address using Windows without any additional tools.

some you can spoof, some you cant. I also heard you can plug the dongle into a usb adapter and spoof the adapter if you aren't able to spoof the dongle itself. That way you have your comp mac spoofed, and then the adapter spoofed. Amazon can only see the 2 closest mac addresses

Technitium allows you to generate a random mac address for your wireless connection wether it be a dongle or lan or hub etc .
The only problem is the mac addresses bare an associated residentias address such as the following mac and it's address :

00-00-00-28-16-20
NORCONTROL A.S. (00-C0-0B) Address: P.O. BOX 1024, N-3194 HORTEN, NORWAY, NORWAY

The obvious question is will amazon be able to detect the Norway address and will it cause them to suspend your account ?

Another question is , how random are these mac address' , what if another amazon user is also using technitium and uses the same mac as you ?

The addresses are actually of the manufacturers.

Only the prefix/first three sets of number identifies the manufacturer iirc. If you use a completely scrambled Mac address that doesn't have a valid manufacturer ID, it would still work.

To answer your question ihatescam, MAC addresses are in hex format, meaning each number have 16 possibilities (0-9,A-F). In another word, you have a total of 281474976710656 combinations. If you have the luck of an Irish and ends up getting a randomized MAC address that was already banned by Amazon out of the 281474976710656 of possibilities, you will be banned again. In that case, you would truly be an unfortunate person.

I read that you spoof the actual adapter, not the dongle. It's covered in the amazon ghost book
