Default stupid question? (vmware/mac address)

I'm using VMware for multiple amazon accounts. (My computer is windows 7, each vm is windows xp).

Do I have to change my MAC address *within* each VM, or is ok to change the MAC prior to opening the VM?

Also, in writing this I was sent to other threads, where people say you actually get a new MAC with each VM automatically, and thus that you don't need to fuss around with MAC addresses. Is that true? If so why doesn't he mention that in Ghost?

Others - Correct me if im wrong, but to my knowledge, each VMware account has a separate MAC address.

I use VMware with 3 accounts and have never had an problems. If you are worried about it, download SMAC and spoof all your MACS. This is what I did, it might be an overkill but its so easy to do why not.

Each VMWare account has a separate MAC address since it is essentially a different computer. You still have to spoof the router MAC address though because Amazon can read that.

Would you not have to change your computer's MAC address as well? Each VM has it's own virtual NIC so it has it's own MAC, but the virtual NIC has internet access through the computer's actual network adapter. If you look at the access history on your router, the MAC address of your computer is shown, not you VM's MAC.

The router does see you're PC's MAC but not the outside world.

To the outside world you have a new mac, but dont forget to change your router mac too.
