Signing into the wrong account

My eleven year old daughter accidentally signed into a different account but didn't make it to the seller's area. Instinct tells me that both accounts would get suspended as she signed into the wrong account with a different comp. I have 3 stealth accounts running after being banned 2 weeks ago. My daughter figured I was asleep and decided to help out. She woke me up when she realized that she entered the wrong email.

So far the account wasn't banned YET and I have managed to confirm a sale. I feel really bad for my daughter though because she knows how important those accounts are and how starting up new accounts are difficult. I just wished she wasn't so responsible especially after a difficult divorce. If I had seen it later this morning when I awoke, things would still be fine. Putting her off to sleep now, there is still school later.

How long does the linking process go when it comes to another account using the same IP and comp as one account? So far, it has been 30 minutes, no ban yet. I am crossing my fingers!!

sorry to say that if she signed in with the banned/blocked email, and password, chances are you are gonna be linked. Once you sign in, that information, ip, mac, cookies are all logged into Amazons main frame, and it just a matter of time before you get the dreaded linked alert. The only way to tell is to sign on to those accounts, and see if your still up and running. There may be a very tiny chance you may have dodged it, but it doesn't look good.

In the future, you may want to password protect those computers that have all your accounts. This way any unauthorized people in the household will not be able to access those websites.

Good luck

If this was eb ay, I would have said that chances are not bad on getting away with this one-time blunder. But as cherrqell has mentioned, Am az on is a different beast and will suspend in a heartbeat.

I am still selling! Whew! Apparently my only explanation is what I call the facebook concept. When she logged in, she didn't log into the seller account but on the Amazon main page. The facebook thing is that "maybe" the seller account is another server like facebook apps. Since she never logged into the seller account it was not linked. Other than that, I don't have any explanation except that I was very lucky to have dodged that bullet.

Could take a while to link you, maybe better start a new stealth account as a backup just in case.

cherrqell 08-23-2011 07:09 AM

When I got linked it took about 3 days to get blocked. I also accidently logged in with a banned email myself, I had a few glasses of wine, and was a little effed up. If she just accessed the Amazon website you should be ok, but if she logged into the Amazon website then there is a footprint of that breach, and Amazon will know, and link the accounts.

Will backup. @cherrqell, unfortunately she logged into the website but not the seller's area. Crossing my fingers. It is so hard to start up and my daughter has been feeling bad about it, thank goodness school is there to take her mind off of it.

I did that and am still up and running.

Didn't log into the sellers portion that I am aware of

But I do believe they know...as a comment was made once that could've been

taken two different ways. I often talk in circles with them because they are

not really allowed to joke around, and if it's an iffy thing always want them

to have an out if asked, they are recorded. I was asked about it when

calling in, "do I have another acct?" I told them yes, maybe, via my teenager

but no more. He will never log in since i started selling.

I keep my feedback at 25% positive so unless I get a neg.... it is doubtful in

my opinion it will be looked at that deep. But you never know....

Account is still active...I am having a dilemma about selling to the max in anticipation of a suspension or just breathe a sigh of relief.

GTB 08-24-2011 07:13 PM

do not start selling like crazy

you do not know if you will be banned yet and you might invite trouble if you do

relax,be chilled and hope for the best and always have a back up plan:)

Recherché 08-25-2011 02:05 PM

Do you have BetterPrivacy and/or CCleaner? If you do and wipe everything clean after each use, you may be better protected. Monday I logged into a different account with email & password which just got suspended so I know the anxious feeling of waiting. Will see.

GTB 08-25-2011 02:10 PM

if you linked yourself to banned account, theres nothing you can do now

expect the worse and anything less is a bonus:thumb:

Yes I used ccleaner as well as changed the router mac and IP the moment it happened. So far account is still active. This looming feeling is scary.
